Yin Zhu lit a match stick and then placed it inside the small room heater where the coals dripped in oil were, at once the coals ignited, lighting up the room as Yin Zhu closed the brazier with its lid shut tight. Fortunately, her clumsiness did not strike again because it would have been really annoying for her to burn down a cottage again.
" Well, it's almost time for everyone to lay off work, of course, the carriage was full," said father Yin as he turned his attention to the vegetable stew that was bubbling on the stove. " But it's fine as long as you two return home on time."
" Father you worry too much," said Yin Zhu as she took off her shoes and rubbed her feet, unlike the rich they did not have any carriage and she had to walk all over the town with her sister. Even when Mister Jiang's shop was almost thirty minutes away from the town's entrance she had to walk that far with her sister. Now her feet were hurting so bad that she wished she could soak them in hot water but she had to wait for her father to finish cooking first. " With sister with me, who would dare to bully us?"
" Haha, how can I not worry? I have two beautiful daughters, it would be impossible for me not to worry about the two of you," Father Yin chuckled as he picked up a piece of pickled radish and threw it at Yin Zhu who almost caught it but then she fumbled it and dropped it on the floor. She went to pick it but she was stopped by Yin Xia who hummed sternly and said, " No picking up the food from the floor, how many times do I have to tell you this?"
"It's still good," said Yin Zhu as she picked up the piece of pickled radish but under her sister's stern gaze she had to drop the radish in the water vat. " There you go, happy?"
Yin Xia rolled her eyes but she did not say anything to Yin Zhu instead she turned to look at her father and said, " I have bought all the daily necessities for her and I even picked up a toy car for uncle's grandson as a gift for his birthday ."
Their uncle lived in the eighth cycle that was ruled by the Giants, three days later his grandson was going to turn eight and they were of course invited to the birthday party as well. But everyone knew that without a proper reason, no employer would let their servants take a leave which was why they were going to send just the gift to the eighth cycle hoping that it will reach on time.
" You have done well," said Father Yin as he covered the stew that was bubbling on the stove with a lid and then picked up a lemon from the vegetable basket. Betas were good at household magic and Yin Xia covered everything edible with a bit of her beta magic such that it would slow down the rate of things getting spoiled, these lemons were brought three weeks ago but they were still slightly fresh.
When Father Yin picked up a knife and cut the lemon in half, it oozed its juices with ease. " I will make lemon tea for the two of you, you both were out for so long surely you must be thirsty." As he said that he picked up a small tea stove from the kitchen cabinet and then placed it on the dining table where he lit it up and placed a teapot filled with water on top of it. " I hope nothing went wrong. You were on your best behaviour weren't you Zhu'er?"
Father Yin knew how troublesome his daughter can be sometimes, she was clumsy but that did not stop her desire to see the world. One time he took her with him to the town and after that, he swore that he would buy a leash and tie her up if he was to ever take her with him in the town.
" Of course——"
" She ran away when I told her to stay put," Yin Xia immediately tattled to their father not letting Yin Zhu escape from their father's stern glare. " She even fell on the streets and scratched her palms and knees, honestly, if I had to buy another tub of ointment despite buying one last week."
Hearing that Yin Zhu was actually hurt, Father Yin did not scold her but instead, he looked down at her dress that seemed to have spots of blood which escaped his notice because he didn't see them before and his face turned worried. " Are you sure you are all right Zhu'er?
" I am," replied Yin Zhu but she was once again struck with worry, why was it that she could not remember what happened to her? How did she scratch her palms and how in the world she walked so far without her even knowing it? She was bewildered and confused but even after bullying her mind into remembering what happened, she couldn't even grasp hold of anything.
Father Yin stared at Yin Zhu, he knew that his daughter was clumsy, and his mate has been just as clumsy as well. When he imprinted on her, she would break almost everything and knock into perfectly still things… given that Yin Zhu was an omega like her mother, she inherited most of her attributes.
With a sigh, he strained the tea and then squeezed the lemon into it. " I am really worried about you, I can't help but think that we should just pack our bags and leave. What if you end up getting involved with one of the young masters?"
What worried him the most was the ring that chose Yin Zhu, every omega would choose a ring when their glands would start to develop but those omega rings were simple and only had one ring, his daughter, on the other hand, had three. Those rings have been a source of worry for him all these years.
