By the time they finished their shopping and got back to the car Chase’s mind had repeated Orland’s words over and over. It was all he could think of when he and Morgan climbed into the car.
Chase hardly registered Morgan opening the door for him, and when Morgan sat down in the driver’s seat Chase barely caught his cautious, “Are you okay?”
Chase frowned at him and looked down at his lap, fidgeting with his fingers for a moment. Morgan waited for a reply for a moment before starting the car and pulling out of their parking spot
After several minutes on the road Chase looked up and glanced at Morgan before turning his gaze to the road. “What did he mean?” he asked, frowning a little.
“What?” Morgan responded, sounding startled.
“He said you're not being honest with me. What does that mean?”
Morgan was silent just long enough for Chase to think he hadn’t been heard but when he looked over to ask again Morgan was wearing a grave expression.
