Chapter 153: I'll wait

"Still awake?" Veron asked and Karina nodded. Even before he saw her eyes wide open, her heartbeat already informed him that she was not yet asleep. The quick change in the way her heart was beating when he opened the door, told him that there was still fear in her. 

He moved to the side of the bed and looked down at her. Only her upper body was lying on the bed. Her feet were still placed on the floor.

"Scared?" He threw another question after seeing her nod.

"Kind of. I keep thinking someone will jump out of nowhere and grab me." She confessed.

Veron chuckled. "Not while I'm here. No one will touch even a single hair on your head." He assured her, then moved to the bathroom to take his shirt off. 

When he returned, he climbed onto the other side of the bed and lay on his back.

"Come here." He uttered in a near whisper, waving his hand for her to come to his side.
