Chapter 53: A different kind of man

Karina's eyes slowly cracked open a few hours later, but she shut them the next second and clenched her teeth as a result of the splitting headache she felt.

A small groan escaped her lips and her hand flew to her forehead in an effort to lessen the banging, but all to no avail. She lay still, making sure not to move even the slightest to avoid worsening her situation. But something occurred to her the very next second and her eyes snapped open while she moved her eyes around.
