Chapter 48: Inquisitive Villagers.

The following day, Perdita woke up with mixed expressions on her face. She was anxious, helpless, scared, and above all she was angry.

She didn't sleep a wink last night because of the problem with Mrs. Perkin and now the church coming to exorcise their village. If what Mark said really pushed through, there was no saying that they wouldn't be discovered once and for all they were vampires.

It was one of the oldest ways vampires or the rumored witches were easily discovered. Though she didn't know how exactly it was done, she knew the process involved the use of holy water and other sacrifices that followed.

Who could have gone to report to the church? Those damn people!

Was it because Mr. Perkin was missing? No, it couldn't be. They all thought he ran away because he discovered his wife was a whore. So who could have done that? Perdita wondered as she paced around their house.
