The guards who had carried out Adrien's orders stood in stunned silence, their minds racing with confusion and uncertainty. They had been prepared to carry out their leader's will without question, but Adrien's sudden change of heart had left them reeling, unsure of where their loyalties truly lay.

As they filed out of the study, their faces betraying a mixture of fear and bewilderment, they exchanged hushed whispers amongst themselves, their voices barely audible above the din of their own thoughts.

"What just happened?"

"Did you hear him? He said the man was innocent..."

"But why? What changed his mind?"
