The room buzzed with tension as the girl ignored Gloria's plea and moved towards the door with determination. Gloria, realizing the severity of the situation, hurriedly tried to explain herself.

"Wait! No!" she exclaimed, frustration evident in her voice. In her attempt to be heard, she pulled at her already tangled hair, a physical manifestation of her mounting distress. "Just listen to what I've got to tell you!" she pleaded, desperation coloring her words. However, her words fell on deaf ears as the impending call to the guards seemed inevitable, the shadows of suspicion casting a long and uncertain pall over the room.
