Chapter 80: Silent Heartbeats

"He is the Crown Prince's assistant!" They could hardly hear Mary's anxious whispers above their racing hearts. They experienced a chilling conclusion that struck them like a bolt of lightning. The gravity of the situation increased tenfold at that very time. In spite of the uncertainty that hung thick in the air, Mary's grip on Lia's gown became tighter. Her fingers shook as they clutched to the material.

"Oh gosh! He looks handsome," Giana's eyes unintentionally softened as she sighed in a breathy whisper. She muttered with a mixture of amazement and admiration as if the seriousness of their predicament had been temporarily overshadowed by the man's good looks. 

"Done ogling?" Delbert raised one of his arched eyebrows and asked in a tone that was subtly amused and authoritative. His piercing, perceptive stare pierced into Giana, analyzing her brazen admiration with a knowing glare.
