Just as on the two regular days, Gloria would constantly visit the hospital, unknown to Mrs. Marino. Today, too, she snuck into the ward where Diego was admitted. Given that Diego's mother totally disliked her and kept blaming her for the reason why her son was in such a bad state, she didn't want another drama to unfold at the hospital.

"Diego..." she called softly, looking at the sleeping patient on the sick bed. Her heart squeezed at the state of his bandaged arms and shoulders, along with his neck. She could see a small wire that seemed to be connected to his respiratory system as it went through the white yet lightly smeared yellow stain of the ointment that was applied underneath the bandage near his throat. She could feel chills running down her spine at the sight of the once ginger-haired, shy boy lying on the bed, not knowing what was happening around him.

A lone tear slid down her cheeks as she stretched her hand forward and tried to reach out and touch his messy hair that was sticking on his forehead with a darker shade than usual.

"I...I...um sorry, Di-" she stuttered, her fingers trembling. Her hands were near enough to slide his hair strands away, but she could not muster herself to do so. Guilt tripped her. With no time, tears kept pouring like running water as she retracted her hands away from herself, clutched her hands dearly to her chest, and lost her strength, falling on the floor.

Tears filled her eyes, blurring her surroundings. She could not help but shed tears every time she thought of the incident. Her inner self kept blaming her continuously, as much as she tried to deny it.

"I'm sorry, Diego... I'm sorry, E-Edgar. It was all my fault. I'm the one who should be resting on this bed. Not you." She kept weeping, her forehead touching the not-so-clean floor as tears pooled, but there was no sign of her stopping anytime soon.

Unknown to her, the door slid open slowly, and in came the doctor, draped in a white coat, a stethoscope around his neck, and a small file in his hand. Gloria didn't seem to notice the intruder, for she kept weeping and mumbling in guilt. The pain was visible in her teary mess.

A loud clearing of a throat was heard ahead of her, startling her. She quickly raised her head at the source with her tear-stricken face and her blurry vision. She couldn't make it out who was standing in front of her.

"Tch! Tch! Such a crybaby," remarked the doctor, looking at Gloria's state and waving his hand before he placed the file on the side table.

Gloria didn't seem to hear him say so, but she cleared her throat, wiped off her tears, and looked down as she stood up in a wobbly state with the support of the sick bed.

"What is he, your lover boy?" he questioned, gesturing his hand as he sat on the chair leisurely, catching Gloria off-guard.

"N-Hick!" She was about to deny it as she shook her head, but the hiccups beat her before she could make out the words. She immediately bit her tongue and closed her mouth, but continued to shake her head.

"No?" He questioned her, handing her a bottle, but she glanced at it and frowned. "Have some. You'll need to stop yourself from hiccupping, or do you prefer staying that way?" He questioned her, smirking at her.

Gloria immediately took hold of the bottle and opened the lid. Her eyes lingered on the liquid in the bottle skeptically. She brought it to her mouth but smelled it before she could place it on her lips.

When her eyes were accidentally directed at the doctor, she saw him gazing at her bemusing with a grin playing on his lips.

"You suspect it to be blood?" he questioned in a low but deep voice, and the next minute the bottle in her hands slipped out of her hand. Her eyes widened in shock at the word 'blood', but the man was soon enough to catch hold of the bottle before it fell to the floor.

"Woah! Easy there, little one," he said, continuing, "It's just water, you see." He chuckled.

"What are you doing here?"

"Oh, you speak! I thought you happened to all of a sudden turn into a dumb."

Gloria turned furious, fuming in rage as she glared back at him.

"Are you here to quench your thirst again?"

"Me? I don't know what thirst you're talking about, Miss, but I'm here to do my duty, if that's what you meant by it," he said innocently as if he knew nothing about what she said and continued, "but then... a certain someone happened to be weeping for that certain someone's lover-boy, interrupting poor me from my duty," he accused her innocently.

"You... He ain't my lover-boy, you bloodsucker, but you better stay away from him." She hissed at him ragefully, standing in front of the vampire she had encountered two days before in the open field of the hospital. She blocked him from taking a step toward the patient as she glared at his irises that weren't red like the last time she had seen but hypnotic olive green.

"If you say so, you'll have to never see your lover boy ever again, you know?" He said it nonchalantly, gazing right into her faring brown orbs.

"Don't you dare threaten me or I'll—" she raised her hands forward, defensively.

"Or you'll what?" he questioned as he took a step forward toward her. Her hand could barely be a wall between them.

"Or... or... I'll scream," she said, and hear him chuckle.

"That's it?"

"Yes!" She fumed, "And let the cops know what you did. He's a victim in a dire case, so step away, or you're going to be in a big trouble."

"Will I?" He stepped an inch closer, trapping her as she stepped back, hitting the bed that stood behind her, and placed his hands around her waist. "But, how so, darling?"

Gloria was trapped in between the bloodsucker's hands. Her heart thudded louder as fear crept into her. Her eyes kept darting from his eyes to his lips.

Christon purposefully pushed his fangs out, running his tongue over their sharp edges, and felt his own blood dripping from his tongue, which he didn't mind. But the fear that was reflected in the little girl enticed him more than anything he could describe. He could hear the rushing blood throughout her body. The heart that was struggling to jump out had him amused more than anything. But the rage in her eyes was the only thing that kept him away from her, for it was an unusual sight for someone to hold onto their rage but still fear.

"I... I'll tell them that you were here, trying to use us like your good pack and were about to kill me." At first, she stuttered, but her words became firm as she shamelessly admitted it.

"Oh, will you now, my dear?" He inched his face closer to her, leaning down to her height.

Suddenly the door burst open, startling Gloria. She tried to push him away, but he did little to nudge himself away from her. They heard little voices from outside the door.

"What are you doing here?!" The furious voice came from the doorstep.
