Chapter 147: Hiding

Henry was forced to sit on the floor behind the partition wall so he wouldn't be seen from the top. With his back against the wall and his elbows resting on his knees, he ran his hands through his hair and calmed his racing heart. 

It wasn't a good time to be flustered by the princess. After such a daring kiss he was hardly thinking straight and was not ready to face whoever lay on the other side of that door. 

He listened intently to the voices on the other side. 

The door opened. 

"Yes, Clara?" the princess asked. 

"Good morning, your highness," the maid greeted politely. "There are lunch guests this afternoon I've been asked to get you ready for."

Henry didn't like the way the princess was pushed around with the current, with no control over where she would go next. 

"Who are they?" the princess didn't keep the dread from her voice.
