Chapter 16: Knowing each other

The next class was History class. The teacher's voice was so melodious, only a few students were awake. Evie held her head in a still position, not moving. "Does this school have any serious classes?" she asked Max.

"The serious ones are too serious. Like the Chemistry teacher. It's a female teacher so keep your guard high." He said with a straight face. She wasn't sure if he was feeling sleepy or he just had his usual sleepy eyes on. She looked behind him and the same applied to Myles.

"Max, do you feel awkward that the first discussion I had with you was about your private life?" She had no idea why she asked because it was not the kind of thing she asks about.

"What? Hell no. Infact, I'm grateful you asked. If not, I wouldn't feel the kind of relief I feel right now. And also, it's a step to us knowing each other again. You can count it as a way of keeping up with the things you've missed all these years. Don't feel so worked up about nothing."

"Hmm... so... you don't want to ask me anything?"

"The hell, I do. I was waiting for the opportunity but now that you mention it... Do you have a boyfriend? Or did you break up with him before you came here? Are you a virgin? Do you still pick up fights? Are you still strong? Are you still good at games? Why did you move here? Why did you choose this school? How- "

"Chill. Dude... One question at a time."

"Sorry. I'm just excited to see you again after all these years. Okay, first things first. Why did you move here?"

"Cause of dad's work. After you moved out, a year later we moved out too. But then, about a month ago, Mom and dad announced that we were moving over here."

"Hmm.... so why did you choose this school?"

"I didn't. Mom and dad did. Those people just do things without my consent. But I didn't oppose it, as long as it's not a private school."

"You know it. Private school reeks. Rules and shit." he agreed with her on that one. "So are you still the 'Fighter Evie'?"

"Don't call me that. I don't fight if my buttons are not pushed. It's not called fighting as a matter of fact. It's called standing up for myself."

"By fighting."

"Whatever. You fight too. I remember that one time when we were kids and then you thought some kids were bullying me, you just came out of nowhere and started fighting them." she chuckled in a low tune.

"But then, I figured they were just asking questions. Do you have a boyfriend? You seem like you do."

"Well, I don't. But I've dated a few guys over the years. Relationships are just not satisfactory and in most cases, the couples don't attain symbiosis. One person is always on the losing end. I figured this out like a year ago. It made me steel my resolve to not have a boyfriend because they are all just after my body. Boys."

"Hmm. But not all of us are like that, you know."

"Yeah, I know. In some relationships, the guys are at the losing end because they are not after the girl's body but the girl is after something in them. Probably their money or fame or whatever. It's super hard to find a perfect relationship. Someone once said that 'There's no such thing as a perfect relationship'."

"Are you a virgin?" 'Not like he didn't know the answer. Just want to see hear her say it.' he thought to himself.

"Yes."

"WHAT!!!" He shouted at the top of his voice. The whole class turned in their direction but he still kept his jaw low staring at her with his eyeballs almost bulging out of their sockets.

"Max! Do you intend to take over the topic and teach the class?" The History teacher said with annoyance in his eyes.

"That's if you're willing to share your salary with me, sir." he said with a smile but behind that smile was a sort of wierd humor. The students burst into laughter but the teacher just ignored and continued with the lesson.

"As I was saying... what? How? You're... a virgin?" he asked with wide eyes.

"Of course I am. What makes you think I'm not."

"Because you're so.... voluptuous and you look badass. I still find it hard to believe. Are you telling the truth or you feel shy to tell me?Hmm?"

"I'm not being shy, Max. I've never had sex, so yeah, I'm a virgin."

" Wow. I've started having sex since I was 12."

"I'm not surprised at all."

Evie and Max talked till it was finally break. Looked like there weren't any serious classes yet.

She walked into the school lunchroom with Max leading the way. They took their trays and put food in it.

*SPLASH*

"Hey! Are you blind?"
