Chapter 41: CHAPTER FORTY-ONE

Why was he doing that? Her heart stuttered when he brought her wrists up and placed a single kiss on each of them. Her mouth hung open. That wasn't actually happening, right?

"I'm sorry, Natasha," Lorenzo said against her wrist.

She stopped breathing for a second.  He apologized to her.

  The Italian mafia boss, Lorenzo Lizzo, a man who probably never uttered the word sorry to anyone, had just apologized to her. She was in a state of shock.

Her heart was beating wildly in her chest and she fought to breathe. He looked up at her and her body started to warm up under his soft gaze.

That wasn't possible. Lorenzo couldn't be sitting in front of her right then and apologizing. He couldn't be that…gentle.

"You didn't deserve what I did to you. I can't apologize enough. But please know that I am so genuinely sorry," he continued as he placed her hands on his knees again.
