It had been a week since the incident, and nothing strange had happened since then. The only thing I got were worried calls from Lena and Kara. After reassuring both of them that I was ok, and it was just a migraine about 200 times, they finally believed me.
Lena told me I could start working whenever I felt better so we both decided today would be good. She had a little free time to explain everything to me, and she told me there was a spot at Luthercorp where I could work on everything.
Dinah had upgraded my phone and installed the anti supergirl device onto it, together with all of the hacking tools. That way I didn't need to bring too much separate devices and it also made it more subtle. However I hadn't figured out how to use most of them yet.
On top of that Dinah had given me a taser and pepper spray, so I had some things to defend myself... Those were also things I could explain if security were to check my bag. I really hoped that I didn't have to use them though, especially not on Lena. There was just something about her that I couldn't really explain.
At least we didn't have to break in to gain information anymore now. This time I would enter Luthercorp through the front door and wouldn't even have to hack the security system.
It's like they let the burglar walk right into their building. Well ... not exactly a burglar, but you know what I mean.
As I walked up to the building I could see the front doors were packed with guards, armed from head to toe with futuristic looking gear. All of them were scanning the area around the building carefully, to make sure there weren't any threats. As I walked up to the glass doors, two of them approached me.
"ID, please." One of them asked.
I was a bit anxious, so it took a while before I managed to find it in my wallet packed with cards. As I handed it over they put it into a device that I had never seen before. Apparently it checked if I was on the list of people who were expected there.
"Welcome miss y/l/n, miss Luthor is expecting you in 5 minutes. You may enter the building through the doors on the right."
As I entered, I didn't expect what I saw at all. The main hall was enormous, with a giant fountain and everything. Normani and I hadn't seen this part.
I walked over to the front-desk pretending not to know exactly where Lena's office was. Behind it sat a girl with brown eyes and brown hair. She was busy reading a book.
"Ehm... excuse me miss I'm Y/n Y/l/n and I have an appointment with miss.Luthor." I spoke.
The young woman lifted her head and her eyes lit up.
"You're Y/n Y/l/n?! Hi I'm Camila Cabello! I read the article about you! I LOVE your art. Especially the one with the blue and the green.. eh you know the dark one with all those nice colors on the second page of the article ... how did you learn that? Like seriously! I can't even draw a circle! Maybe I should take classes, because I would love to draw like that! Omg! Can we take a picture together or something like that?! My friends would be so jealous right now... Or maybe not they don't really care about art. BUT STILL. You look gorgeous in real life!! Oh and can you draw me a banana please! Those are my favo.." She rambled, but she got cut off.
"....Ehm miss Cabello, I think I was the one who was supposed to have a meeting with miss. Y/l/n here." An amused voice sounded behind me.
"I'm s..sorry miss. Luthor. I got a little bit overexcited." Camila stuttered as a dark red blush colored her cheeks.
I turned around and stood face to face with Lena. She looked really intimidating today, just like every other day. She wore a dark suit with matching shoes and a white shirt Even in sweatpants and with a messy bun she'd be intimidating as fuck. Probably even in the silly chicken costume Dinah bought my birthday once.
"Oh eh hello miss. Luthor." I smiled politely, trying to get the image of her in a chicken costume out of my mind.
"Goodmorning y/n. Haven't I already told you, you can call me Lena." She spoke while putting her hand on the small of my back." Come on, I'll lead you to my office. We can discuss everything once we are there."
Her touch made shivers run down my spine. It must've been cause I was afraid of her... Not because she was absolutely stunning or anything like that... That gesture made her come off as a little bit... controlling, yeah thats it! Not cause she's gorgeous! It could just be me, thinking she could kidnap me at every moment.
In the corner of my eyes I could see Camila wriggle her eyebrows which made me facepalm internally. She probably thought me and Lena were a thing. Other than that Camila was actually pretty nice. If she wouldn't work for the devil herself we'd probably be great friends. She seemed to have nearly shit herself when she saw me at first. Which was so strange, because it was just me. I mean.. I'm just some person that likes drawing stuff.
Lena led me towards an elevator, which looked a lot more expensive than the tiny one in my old apartment building, it was probably the same size as my old room. When we stepped in, I could hear soft music playing in the background. It wasn't the usual stupid nerve-wracking elevator music I was used to, but it was actually pretty good. I caught myself humming to it.
"Are you feeling a bit better since last time we saw each-other?"
"Yeah, it's not the first time it happened. Nothing to worry about really."
"So you get that often? How often would you say? This is quite worrying to me y/n."
"I'm not sure, it just happens from time to time..."
"Well next time I'll drag you to my house and call a doctor, cause it was terrifying to see you that way. I can't just let you deal with it on your own."
A bit later the elevator arrived at the top floor.
"So y/n, before we get to the point, you have to sign some paperwork, just legal stuff." She smiled. "Btw, since I don't have an office space that's suitable for you yet, you'll work in my office for now. There's plenty of space for the two of us." Lena said.
Wait what? Work in her office? Isn't that a bit odd? I couldn't believe that she didn't even have one office space that was free or 'suitable'. All I needed was a desk and decent lighting. This was purely so she could observe me.
"I don't need a whole lot of space though. Maybe I can even go sit next to Camila. I mean, you'll be busy with your... CEO stuff and things I'm probably not allowed to know or hear about." I spoke, trying to change her thoughts.
"It's ok y/n. It isn't just because of the lack of space either." Lena admitted "I would actually like to get to know you on a more personal level. You seem like someone I could get along with and sitting here alone in my office can get pretty boring. I also don't think working next to Camila would be a great idea. She'd never stop rambling. Besides, I don't there is much secret stuff to worry about... and honestly, you're adorable."
"Oh eh ok. Thank you." I answered awkwardly slightly blushing. Since I'm like one of the most awkward people on this planet.
"You can sit here" she pointed at a little desk very close to her own. There was no way I'd be able to concentrate working that close to her. It was already a miracle that I could contain my anxiety until now. This woman was terrifying, in many ways.
"Maybe we can talk about the projects over lunch and I'll tell you a bit more about the company now? Wait...lunch... Oh damnit... I forgot to stop by the bakery on my way here!"
"Oh I can go get your lunch if you want!"
"It's ok y/n, you're not an assistant, you can sketch out some of your ideas while I'm gone or work on something. I'll save my boring explanation for later then. I'll be back in half an hour. I'm going to get some lunch for myself. Do you want anything?" Lena asked.
"Eh no thanks. I've got lunch in my backpack." I said, holding up the sad looking bag with stale bread, I should've listened to Dinah and have taken one of those doughnuts. "But thank you for offering."
"Ok bye y/n, I'm sorry but my food is very important to me!"
After that the door softly clicked and she was gone. I turned on my earpiece and instantly conected with Dinah.
"She's gone"
"All clear, y/n?"
"Yep"
"Ok y/n. I'll corrupt the security camera data and make sure you're not on it. It's pointed at her desk."
"You sure they won't know like last time?"
"I've made some adjustments and it should work out perfectly."
"Ok, so do I look inside her desk?"
"Yes, but hurry! She'll be back soon." Dinah spoke worriedly.
I opened the bottom drawer most to the right, and found a box with a weird digital lock. I had no idea how the hell I could open it. It seemed like something you had to scan.
"Use your phone! Use the Lock Gadget thingy I put on there! The icon with the little yellow lock!"
Oh right.. I still had that...It was confusing at first, but worked faster than I thought. I just had to hold up the back of my phone against it now. With a soft click, the box opened and revealed a bundle of strange documents, held together with paperclips.
On top of everything was a picture of a castle-like building, but underneath I found a long list with names.
"Project Cadmus experiment 7: suspect list." Was written on top of it. Every name was a typically female name.
Some of the names were already crossed out too, but still about 30 of them remained. Five names had big red cirkels drawn around them.
My name was one of them...
