John watches Sam and Bobby walk away with a frown on his face. Why him? Why Bobby? John is Sam's What's Bobby to him? How is Bobby better than his actual father?
Mary waves a hand in front of her husband's face. "John? You okay?"
"Yeah," John says quickly. "I'm fine."
"You sure?"
John nods. "Yeah. I'm fine, thanks."
"Is this about Sam and Bobby?" Ellen asks him, ignoring his brushoff.
"Why? No. I don't know what you mean," he lies.
"How Sam wanted to talk to Bobby instead of you," Ellen clarifies. "Because I'm sure it's nothing personal. Probably just habit. The boys have been going to Bobby since I met 'em. I'm sure it'll just take a bit of getting used to to remember they can go to you, too, that's all."
John sighs. "I hope so."

Sam and Bobby return to the war room to hear Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" blasting, somehow only audible in the room. Gabriel and Charlie are dancing around to it, and Michael watches them with an amused smile, sort of bobbing his head to the music. Gabriel's attempts to get him to join in are futile, but it seems he and Charlie are having too much fun together to really care.
Sam glances back at Bobby, who silently urges him on. The younger boy sighs and approaches Gabriel hesitantly. The angel looks up at him with a grin.
"Come to join the dance party?" Gabriel asks.
"Uh, no, actually," Sam tells him. "Can I talk to you? Alone?"
Gabriel nods before glancing at Charlie and mouthing "Sorry." The music suddenly stops playing, and Sam leads the archangel away from the group so they're alone. Sam fumbles for the words, not sure what to say without sounding like a total cliché. Gabriel deserves much more than the "It's not you, it's me" line.
"Look, Gabe, I..." Sam trails off uncertainly. "I don't really know how to say this. Um..."
"Are you breaking up with me for Jess?" Gabriel guesses.
Sam nods, lowering his gaze to the floor. "I'm — I'm sorry, Gabriel, I just..."
"Decided Jess needs you?" Gabriel finishes. "I know. I get it. I won't hold it against you or anything. I'm just glad you're happy." He gives the boy a small smile.
"Thanks," Sam replies, relieved. "And I really am sorry."
"Don't be," Gabriel replies. "You still love Jess. You should get to be with her. I'll be fine. You two just go be all cute and stuff, okay?"
"Yeah. Thanks again, Gabriel. I'm glad you understand." And he means it, too. If he had hurt the angel, he might not have been able to go through with it. It's so much easier, seeing that Gabriel gets it. Now to go tell Jess the good news. He's so excited for that that he doesn't realize Gabriel doesn't come back to the war room with him.
"Hey, Jess!" Sam says with a smile on his face as he walks up to her.
"Yeah?"
"I cleared things up with Gabriel. We're all good."
"You didn't have to do that," Jess protests.
"But I wanted to," Sam tells her, giving her a quick kiss. "I want to be with you. I love you."
Jess smiles and pulls him into a hug, snuggling up with him. "I love you, too, Sam."

Seriously, what is Chuck waiting for? What's Lucifer even supposed to do right now? He and Jo have been locked in here for so long, she's fallen asleep on the bed, sitting up against the wall. Lucifer glances at the door, but it's locked. Dammit, Chuck! What does he want now? For Lucifer to wake her up? This is ridiculous.
He eyes Jo's sleeping position, propped up against the wall with her head hanging down. Lucifer takes a couple steps closer and picks her up, her head falling back as he holds her bridal style. She makes a soft noise and being moved, but doesn't wake up. Lucifer lies her down on her back, and she looks much more comfortable. Lucifer gently puts a blanket on top of her, so she doesn't freeze.
He glances at the door hopefully. Dammit, still locked. Maybe Chuck wants something more than a random act of kindness. Oh well; that's too bad. He creates a book out of thin air, , and takes a seat. He really doesn't know what this is about, but he heard there's a tv show about it, so it can't be too bad. Besides, he just needs something to pass the time, and this will do.

"I thought you were okay with this," Michael reminds his younger brother, who has been curled up on a previously empty bed in tears for the last five or so minutes.
"I'm not," Gabriel replies, the words hard to understand through the sobs.
"But what you said to Chuck..."
"I lied," Gabriel tells him. "I love Sam. I didn't want to lose him."
"I know," Michael replies sadly, taking a seat next to Gabriel on the bed. "Come here," he says calmingly, and Gabriel does, cuddling up with the older angel. Michael puts his arm around his brother, feeling his sobs as much as he hears them.
"He called me 'Gabriel,'" the younger archangel chokes out.
"That's your name," Michael reminds him, confused.
"Not to Sam. I'm 'Gabe' to Sam. I've always been 'Gabe' to Sam, ever since I told him my real name. Now I'm back to being 'Gabriel.'"
"Oh. I'm sorry," Michael says for what has to be the fiftieth time. "I wish I could help you."
"No one can help me," Gabriel mutters. He moves in closer to his brother, resting his head on the elder angel's arm. Michael holds him close as he sobs, just wishing there was something to do to help.
