Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Trust Restored

"So Ayah… how do you feel about your kill? You want me to treat you like your mature then I will."

This was a horrible situation, only made worse by mom summoning an entire polygraph machine. Like seriously, mom had explained her quirk as 'summoning whatever I think is needed' so she thought she needed that machine for this talk.

She took my hand and hooked me up to the polygraph, all while I tried to think of a way to escape this scenario. This was one of the worst possible situations I could be in, the only thing worse then this would be my reincarnation being exposed.

After she finished hooking me up to the polygraph machine the questions began.

"So Ayah, want to tell me what you meant earlier?"

"All I meant was that having my mind messed with was more traumatic then killing that guy…"

"Hmm, well your not lying… but there's something more? I am still your mother, I can tell your hiding something."

Oh how I wished to say no to that question. Learning to keep a steady heart rate was an important part of fighting, unfortunately I could only pull it off while fighting. My mind would turn cold and my heart rate would stay steady while fighting, but right now, being questioned by my mother I was nervous, and my heart rate would reflect that.

And with that in mind I made my decision, I would throw it out there and live with the consequences. This was my new mother, in my new life, if I couldn't be at least somewhat honest with her then it wasn't worth it.

"Fine, you're right. I don't regret doing it, he was putting you in danger and that made him a threat. Most books I've read say that you must remove threats."

I had mentioned the books to put her on the track that I wasn't a psycho, but was just using my limited information as a five year old. Unfortunately that was a mistake.

"So it was that! I knew it! I should have made you live like a normal kid… instead I let you read all those books and learn all those things. I shouldn't have let you read what you want."

This was the exact opposite of what I wanted, her reaching that conclusion would surely lead to me being forbidden from reading and learning new things. And my internet privileges, I just got them and they would be taken away.

"Wait, wait mom! Let's not jump to conclusions! I mean, I would have protected myself without the books too! You told me to protect myself from stranger right! It's just the books let me not feel sad about it."

"So… you didn't do it because you felt like it would be fun, and you didn't enjoy it."

Jeez, I know I wanted to be treated like the adult I am but this is pretty blunt to be talking to a five year old like this. Like, I can handle it just fine, but any real five year old, no matter how Intelligent, would be a little freaked out by this.

"No, no I did not, I didn't enjoy killing him, if anything I was slightly indifferent to it considering the situation."

My moms face expressed the immense relief she felt at that situation. Relief that was warranted, after all I didn't like killing…. I enjoyed mortal combat. The thrill of fighting with my life on the line, defeating the enemy through superior skill.

Anyway, mom seemed fine with everything now, done with conversation and everything. Which I personally don't believe is very fair. After all mom had her worries disproven, so now I wanted mine disproven.

"So, since I assuaged your worries… it's only fair you assuage mine? You broke my trust by taking me to that mind reader, a child is supposed to trust their parent and right now I don't trust you at all."

And that dealt damage, I could see it clear as day on her face that that was probably the most hurtful thing I'd ever done to her.

"Ayah…I…I can't do that, as a mother I will always do what I think is best for you. That may mean going against your wishes sometimes. However, I will try my best to take into account your maturity and ask your opinion on somethings."

As she finished speaking I noticed that at some point she had begun crying. And that, combined with the emotions boiling up inside me, made me start crying.

Mom reached over and hugged me, and just like several days earlier we sat there hugging and crying. This time there was no wannabe villain to interrupt us, but there was dad.

Opening the door with a look of panic, that quickly changed to one of worry seeing us both crying, he fled into the room.

"Ah…. Sorry I didn't mean to interrupt.."

"N-no it's fine darling..*sniff*.. Ayah and I were just making up."

"Oh, well that's good because is seriously need help… your mom hasn't stopped complaining and your dad definitely still wants to kill me."

He did it again, honestly dad just keeps setting himself up. It's to easy, all I have to say is something like 'mommy you won't let grandpa kill daddy will you?' and he'd be done for.

Moms face went from crying to annoyed extremely quickly.

"Well let's go out there then, no point in keeping them waiting. Ayah, why don't you spend some time with grandma?"

So they wanted to use their cute little girl as a distraction… I guess I'll go along with it.

"Ok! Nana is super nice anyway."

And so we walked out to the living room as a group. Out there Nana and grandpa were sitting on the couch. Grandpa immediately zeroed in on dad, glaring with intensity. Nana on the other seemed content to ignore mom entirely. That alone told me this was going to be a long 3 days.

==================================

I'm back. Some stuff happened, but now I'm back and will be instating the new schedule starting next week. Next Saturday will be the first test of two longer chapters on weekends as opposed to shorter chapters throughout the week.
