Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Laeltilat

Laylith and her friend Arlandiel watched as a huge argiphone sprawled across the field, completely crushing the crop. Laylith tried to use a complicated connection spell to a bird. Many arqilunians have made contact with the bird and established their connection throughout their lives. But those who were able to do this could call argiphones with a whistle, and they flew to the call.

"Nothing worked!" Laeltilat said disappointedly, "I don't know how my dad managed to call an argiphone when he was saving my mother."

"At least we can try to enchant it and climb on it," Arlandiel suggested.

"All right, I'll try," Laylith moved towards the bird, Arel walked next to her.

Arqilunians began to move their hands and said together, "Lyal Rik Arun!"

Argiphone saw them and screamed, then instantly took off into the air and flew away.

"At least we tried," Laylith said.

The two young elves have been on foot since they know about a possible war. Laylith continued to be obsessed with the idea of finding her father, and the reason was clear, she could die in the war but didn't care about death, Laylith was afraid that she would miss, perhaps, the last attempt to see her father.

They needed the karkhashes.

Laylith and Arel had gone a considerable distance from Grandavalnall. They were not far from a small town, Elkumbirzarnall, but decided not to tempt fate, avoiding various settlements where they might be noticed. The spell of long-term non-detection, although it lasts a long time, nevertheless, should not be abused, since Laylith's mother can easily use not only magic but also her power to find her daughter.

Not far from the town they found a roadside inn and decided to spend the night there. Laylith grabbed the money from her house, so the next morning they were able to bargain old karkhashes from the elves. And Laylith and Arlandiel hurried east. The elves army was actively gathering on the southern border, so the eastern borders were gradually deprived of army garrisons because tonnebeards were allies.
