Chapter 32: Chapter 32 Reaching Kingslanding and Dragon pit.

Valarissa soared ahead, feeling the wind caress her hair as she clung to a spike on Qyraxis, her dragon. Approaching Kingslanding, the city gradually unveiled its details with each passing second.

As she neared the city, Kingslanding appeared majestic from the sky, its flaws hidden from this elevated perspective. Valarissa could already see people outside and on their way to the city noticing her dragon. They exhibited signs of panic, running and screaming in fear.

It dawned on her that while the people of Kingslanding were generally accustomed to dragons and knew they wouldn't attack, they had been seeing smaller dragons and those that resembled less of a monstrous beast for many years. Qyraxis, being ancient and the largest dragon since the fall of Valyria, surpassed them all. With its immense size, spikes, large horns, and charcoal-black scales, Qyraxis was a true monster, invoking nightmares in those who witnessed its awe-inspiring presence.

The sudden appearance of the monstrous, unfamiliar dragon, larger than even Balerion, sent shockwaves through Kingslanding. People covered in fear, some even running for their lives. Valarissa, momentarily taken aback, swiftly regained her composure, knowing Qyraxis, her dragon, wouldn't harm anyone. She flew closer to Kingslanding, compelled to cross the city to reach the Dragon Pit.

Qyraxis's massive body covered the sky, casting a shadow over the city, intensifying the chaos. Perhaps sensing the fear, Qyraxis let out a deafening roar, shaking the earth and resonating throughout Kingslanding.

Helpless at the display of her dragon's imposing presence, Valarissa observed people fainting and panicking, finding amusement in it. However, she realized she couldn't prolong this spectacle. She quickly urged Qyraxis to show restraint, shouting in his ear amid the dragon's roars and the chaos below.

"Qyraxis! You must show restraint!" Her commanding voice cut through, and the colossal dragon seemed to calm down, turning his head towards her with an apologetic look, as if saying, "I am sorry, my Lady. I was only trying to impress you."

Perhaps she misinterpreted, but a certain impression lingered in her mind as she looked at Qyraxis's face. Uncertain if it was the dragon's expression or her own delusion, one thing was true – the more she spent time with Qyraxis, the more the dragon seemed to accept her. Gone were the arrogance and pride it once displayed when she first tamed it.

Arriving at the Dragon Pit, Qyraxis circled the area, casting darkness over the pit, captivating the Dragon Keepers and Guards below with the monstrosity above them. After circling for a while, Qyraxis descended, slowly landing on the Dragon Pit's field with Valarissa on his back. The Dragon Keepers and Guards marveled at the sight, having never witnessed such a large and magnificent dragon before. As Qyraxis's claws touched the ground, the earth trembled slightly, the dragon covering the entire field.

Surveying the scene, Valarissa realized an oversight. When she left Dragonstone, she anticipated Qyraxis staying in Balerion's Cave upon reaching Kingslanding. However, looking at it now, the cave could indeed hold Qyraxis, but he would have to squeeze in.

Valarissa recognized that Qyraxis, as the largest and oldest living wild dragon, had enjoyed a free and unrestrained life for hundreds of years. She was confident he would obey her command to stay inside the Dragon Pit, but she knew that confining him in what he might perceive as a "dog house" could provoke his anger.

She understood that Qyraxis's accumulated anger might reach its limits, potentially causing him to disregard her commands and unleash violence. The consequences could extend beyond House Targaryen, potentially impacting the entire city. Valarissa pondered how to balance her dragon's freedom with the necessity of keeping him away from causing Chaos Inside Kingslanding.

After careful consideration, Valarissa decided on a course of action. She opted to find a temporary dwelling for Qyraxis and quickly embark on expanding the now vacant Belerion's Cave for Qyraxis future stay.

Noticing an old maester amidst the commotion, she wasted no time and appointed him in charge of the cave reconstruction for Qyraxis. With a decisive command, she instructed, "Old maester, gather the necessary materials and equipment. Assemble a team of skilled workers in stone masonry and construction. I want the place ready for Qyraxis within a week." The maester nodded in acknowledgment.

Before taking flight, Valarissa had a last-minute thought and reminded the maester, "During the reconstruction, ensure it's large enough so that even if the dragon grows, it can continue to stay inside."

"As ordered, Princess Valarissa," the maester replied with a respectful nod.

Valarissa nodded in satisfaction at the maester's response. Ordering Qyraxis to take to the skies, the dragon flapped its wings, stirring up a strong wind and filling the Dragon Pit with dust with each flap of it's wings as it ascended to the skies.

Leaving the pit, the Dragon Keepers released their long sticks, and the dragon guards loosened their grips on their swords, that they unconsciously held for a sense of security before the dragon.

The elderly maester snapped out of his daze, casting a glance at a slightly younger maester behind him still in daze, Galvin, who would soon take over his responsibilities in the dragon pit. For the past few years, the elderly maester had been sitting back and giving instructions to Galvin, and it seemed that change was inevitable and he didn't resist it.

Contemplating his retirement, the elderly maester swiftly decided to delegate authority to Galvin to test Galvin, see if he was ready and it was also a chance for Galvin to prove himself to the elderly measter "Maester Galvin, you can oversee the reconstruction yourself," he instructed, handing over the responsibility.

With full authorization, Galvin wasted no time. He began barking out commands, organizing the effort with military precision. Soon, he dispatched people to recruit the necessary personnel and started calculating the required amount of gold to inform the King about the upcoming project and seek out channels for all the resources needed. The transition of authority was seamless as Galvin stepped up to lead the reconstruction efforts for Qyraxis's new dwelling.
