Chapter 29: Chapter 29 A deal with Deamon

The surroundings changed as both of them entered the Jade space. Inside, Daemon stood stunned, looking around at the vast fields of wheat and vegetables. Three sides were covered by white mist, while one side displayed a vast grassland with figures seemingly grazing.

Valarissa walked straight to the hut, and Daemon soon followed. Once inside, they sat down facing each other.

"What is this place?" Daemon asked.

"This..." Valarissa hesitated, unsure of how to explain. After some thought, she replied in a way he might understand. "You can consider this as another world, but compared to the real world, this world is incomplete but has some special features."

"Incomplete? Special features? What do you mean?" Daemon asked in confusion.

"In this space, like the real world, there's water, soil, air, and sunlight, but there are no nights, no stars, and no seasons, unlike the real world. As for the special features, everything grown here grows faster, larger, and of better quality. Animals grow faster and breed themselves but can't die unless I will it. The water in this place has the ability to heal, and the things produced here are of superior quality, taste, and size compared to the real world. In this world, I'm like a god, as I can control everything inside and live forever if I want to. The water from the space is also the reason for my miraculous recovery." Valarissa explained.

"So how did you get this ability? Does it cost you something? I have heard that magicians from old Valyria and the current ones would require sacrifices or drain one's own life force," Deamon asked, with some worry hidden in his words.

"I think you misunderstood, uncle. I'm not a magician, and this is not magic. This place exists as a space within this world, and I have the ability to access it, like entering and exiting a room," Valarissa tried her best to explain.

"As for how I gained this ability, it's unknown. Maybe I was born with it, maybe it's some blessings, or maybe it has something to do with our Targaryen bloodline. I myself am unsure of its origin," Valarissa continued to speak, not revealing the fact of her rebirth.

Deamon stayed silent for some time before he asked with a serious expression, "So tell me, Valarissa, why take such a risk to reveal this ability and even take me here?"

"Because I want you to be my partner. You may have already known about my plans to implement some reforms back in King's Landing, right?" Valarissa asked.

"Yes, I'm aware of those. My brother had discussed all your plans with me, except his plan to make you the captain of the City Watch, that is " Deamon said with meaning in his words.

Valarissa didn't comment on her uncle's last words as she continued, "These reforms aim to strengthen the power and influence of House Targaryen amongst the people and also develop the infrastructure and economy of King's Landing. While some aspects will take more than five years to show results, others will be quicker. However, whether it's land reclamation, various industries, or city reconstruction, all of it requires resources. Particularly, food to sustain the people recruited," Valarissa explained.

"So, what role do I play in all this? I don't see you lacking official support, money, men, resources, or food, and I don't think I can offer you something that your father can't," Deamon said with a calm expression.

"Actually, my decision to reveal all this was because you're now outside King's Landing. You see, I can put special marks in specific locations to open pathways to the jade space and send goods throughout these pathways. What I want is for you to prepare ships and transport them to King's Landing, making it seem as if I'm buying these food reserves from somewhere else, so that those people in the darkness won't feel anything abnormal." Valarissa revealed her thoughts, waiting for her uncle's response.

"Why should I help you in your efforts to strengthen your sister's claim to the throne? If you haven't forgotten, I was kicked out from King's Landing by your father," Daemon stated.

"We both know why you were kicked out, as you say in your own words. If you had to point at someone for your current situation, you can only look in the mirror, as I can only say you were too stupid to poke at a wounded tiger and still expect it not to bite you," Valarissa stated matter-of-factly.

Looking at her uncle, Valarissa presented her offer. "Each time I transfer the goods, you will have three extra shipments of goods of the same quality and quantity that you can use to trade, and you will have enough gold."

"Not enough. Gold, I have enough of it, and I don't need to make such a transaction for some gold coins," Daemon replied.

"Tell me, what do you want? Just state your condition," Valarissa asked, understanding that Daemon was going to ask for something that would be troublesome. As expected, Daemon's request was tricky.

"I want a dragon egg!"

Valarissa was silent, realizing he wanted a dragon not for himself but for his future child, expected from his mistress. This was a tricky request, but after some thought, she decided to agree, as she wanted to keep Daemon on her side not only for this deal but also for the smooth rule of her sister in the future.

"I agree, but not now. I will give you the dragon egg when you need it, but you don't get to choose the dragon egg. You definitely can't have more than one, and, more than anything, you definitely can't flaunt this in front of my father," Valarissa said seriously.

"We have ourselves a deal, my little niece. You know you're much easier to talk to than your sister and my brother," Daemon stated.

"Please prepare a place to mark the space node, and I will have to leave for King's Landing before father sends out an army," Valarissa said jokingly.

Suddenly hearing these words, Daemon's face stiffened as he remembered the raven he sent informing about Valarissa.

Looking at Daemon's stiff expression, Valarissa was confused. "What happened?" she asked.

"Nothing!" Daemon didn't explain, mostly due to wanting to save face before his niece. "You should get ready soon. If you're leaving, I will choose a place suitable as soon as possible," he explained as she rushed out of the room in a hurry.
