Chapter 19: Chapter 19 Two Adult dragons

As they arrived at dragonstone, the Castellan warmly welcomed them. Valarissa acknowledged their presence with a nod, her gaze briefly shifting towards her uncle Deamon. She noticed him giving instructions to the guards, ensuring everything was prepared for his mistresses.

She glanced at the drakening sky and the Caraxes by the side, soon her attention stoped at the direction of dragon mount her destination for this journey.

The demon informed Valarissa, "The Guards shall guide you to your Chamber."

Valarissa politely declined, saying, "There is no need for you to arrange a Chamber for me. I will depart as soon as I acquire a dragon and aim to arrive at Kingslanding before dawn tomorrow."

"I don't understand why your in a hurry, you can tame a dragon and no one will stop you thier is always time tomorrow" Deamon said looking at Valarissa.

"Actually, I don't have much time to waste, I don't know if father had told you he will appoint me as the captain of city watch" Valarissa stated.

"How unlikely of him " Deamon said after a moment of silence.

Deamon inquired, "How did you manage to convince my brother and why did you decide to assume control of the city watch?"

Valarissa confidently replied, "I can be quite convening and persuassive, you see. As for taking charge of the city watch, it is because I am determined to prevent the formidable sword you forged from being turned into a weapon against house Targaryen. I understand that you believe they are loyal to you, but without my intervention, the next captain may not be a Targaryen. Over time, the city guard could once again succumb to corruption." With these words, Valarissa turned to face her uncle, Deamon.

"Uncle Deamon, I must admit that although I may not fully comprehend the depths of your heart, you are undeniably one of the individuals whom I place the utmost trust in. While others may struggle to comprehend your true intentions, I personally understand your unwavering love for your brother and our family. Your dedication to safeguarding it, and I am also willing to go to great lengths to ensure its protection as well.

Despite occasional instances where you may not be perceived as the most dependable individual, I firmly believe that you are indeed a reliable person. I understand that you may not place great importance on prophecies and perhaps view my aspirations as mere childish dreams.

I had anticipated the forthcoming future that lies ahead, and before you voice your thoughts, dear uncle, I must clarify that I do not conform to the typical Targaryen mold of blindly adhering to prophecies. Instead, I utilize them as a means to carve out my own unique destiny."

Valarissa continued to expressed her desire to seek assistance from her uncle, not at present, but in the forthcoming times. She emphasized that if she fails to avert the future she has foreseen, she hopes for his support and solidarity, particularly for House Targaryen.

Deamon glanced into his nephew's eyes momentarily before releasing a sigh. He refrained from providing a response or making any commitments, instead diverting the conversation. "So, which dragon have you set your sights on?"

Valarissa's smile widened. "That's a secret."

"You know, Valarissa, you have undergone quite a transformation during our time apart," Deamon remarked.

Valarissa expressed, "Indeed, dear uncle, individuals undergo changes as they navigate through various life encounters. Some emerge stronger, others grow wiser, some succumb to greed, some lose their sanity, and unfortunately, some even become cruel. It is an inevitable journey for all." Valarissa gracefully proceeded towards the dragon mount, while Deamon observed the petite figure walking away.

As she trekked up the mountain, she stumbled upon a massive, gaping cave entrance. Darkness swallowed the opening, and a stench of sulfur and hot air wafted out. A shiver of fear ran down her spine, but she quickly pushed it aside. Hesitation and fear wouldn't get her anywhere, not when she had a goal burning bright in her heart.

Deep within this inky blackness lay her reason for coming all the way to dragonstone and climbing this mountain, her dragon. Her goal was no ordinary dragon. She sought the biggest, oldest, fiercest fire-breather alive, the untamed cannibal.

Stepping into the shadowy cave, Valarissa lit her torch and ventured forward.Though she could withstand hot temperatures, the cave's heat stung her cheeks, and the smell of sulfur made her nose wrinkle.

Soon, she reached a large open area. Near a pile of rocks, two shapes caught her eye. In the darkness, she could only make out their outlines. Raising her torch, she approached them cautiously.

Two ear-splitting screeches filled the air. The first, from a bronze dragon, roared so fiercely it sent a blast of wind and the stench of burnt meat past her. The second, from a silver dragon, was more of a low growl. But what surprised Valarissa most was that neither dragon moved after growling. They simply stared at her with curious eyes.

Now, in the torchlight, Valarissa saw them clearly. One dragon shimmered with bronze scales, the other with gleaming silver. Though she'd never met them, she recognized them from her father's stories and the teachings of the measters Vermonthon and Silverwing.

Valarissa met their gaze. Silverwing's eyes held a gentle warmth, but Vermonthon's remained cold and casious, Yet, even Vermonthon seemed intrigued by her. After cautiously sniffing the air, Silverwing lowered its head towards her. Valarissa hesitated for a beat, then, her heart pounding, reached out and gently patted the giant scaly dragon head.

Seeing Valarissa pat Silverwing, even the usually grumpy Vermonthon sidled closer. Valarissa still couldn't figure out why the dragons were so friendly, even doubting if it had anything to do with her Targaryen blood. After all, even Daenerys in the future hadn't had such a close bond with her dragons, especially after raising them herself.

Pushing aside her thoughts, Valarissa greeted the dragons in High Valyrian, her voice soft yet firm. "It's an honor to meet you both," she said, her words tinged with respect. The dragons sniffed her curiously, their massive bodies brushing against her in a gentle affection.

Suddenly, an idea struck Valarissa. With a thought, two enormous bulls, twice her height, materialized from her Jade space. They landed before the dragons, their bodies steaming slightly in the cool cave air.

"Please, accept this as a meeting gift," Valarissa said, her voice warm.

The dragons froze, their eyes widening at the sight of the bulls. Vermonthon, even the stoic one, let out a low rumble, saliva dripping from his jaws. He looked at the bulls like a gourmet eyeing a rare delicacy.

Seeing the dragons hesitate, Valarissa smiled. "Go on," she encouraged, taking a few steps back. "They're all yours." Then, with a determined glint in her eye, she turned and ventured deeper into the cave, her quest for her own dragon still burning bright.
