Chapter 24: Always make good first impressions
After hearing the annoying alarm, I ended up crushing it when I slammed my hand on it. After moving my hand, I heard Ilia yawning and jumping down to the floor.
"Morning Aiko, is Sienna up?" I just grumbled and looked at her, while my hair was messy and frizzy.
"I don't know, I just woke up." I muttered, seeing my hair standing up, she had to cover her mouth to not laugh.
"A-Aiko, y-your hair." She snickered, I just shook my head for a few seconds, and it dropped back to normal.
"Thanks, I have to go to the shower." I said with a yawn, but beige I could do that, Sienna came out of the bathroom with a tank top and shorts.
"Hey, if anyone wants to take a shower, just to let you know there's no more hot water." Hearing this, Blake groaned in annoyance and pouted at Sienna.
"Why do you always waste the hot water?" She whined, Sienna just scoffed at Blake's question and walked to her bag.
"Because I like warm baths, so deal with it." Blake grumbled but got up and made her way to the bathroom.
As soon as she closed the door, I could hear her clothes ruffling and landing on the floor. Soon the shower was turned on, and I heard her yelp from the cold water.
I shook my head and frowned at how she'll suffer through the cold shower. I then got up and started to gather my towel and comb, getting ready for my turn.
"Aiko, do you need help with your tails?" Blake called out to me, both Ilia and Sienna glanced in my direction.
"Sure, it's time I start shedding some of my fur." I said while entering the bathroom.
"Okay, sit down and I'll help." She said while wearing some gloves, I then sat down on the stool and Blake grabbed the comb, slowly brushing my tails.
However, after three or four strokes on the first tail, it was soon covered by multiple loose fur.
"Ewww, why do you have so much fur?" She whined and began to peal it off the comb.
"Oh relax, it's not that bad." I said while grabbing the pile of fur, and burning it in my hand..
"I know, but it sticks out like a sore thumb!" She exclaimed and continued to comb my first tail.
We've spent the next half hour combing my tail, trying to get every loose fur off me. She soon had to call Ilia and Sienna to help, and we all finished in a few minutes.
"Ugh, how can you stand all of this fur?" Sienna asked while pulling loose fur from her tank top.
"You get used to it." Blake replied with a dead look in her eyes. Both Ilia and Sienna looked in my direction, and saw I was burning a large pile of my fur.
I just smiled and wave at them with a bright look, but with the fire burning behind me, it made it look like I was covered in a shadow.
They soon looked away but composed themselves, as they looked back, all my fur was gone, and I was just sitting there.
Menacingly.
"S-so, how about we go into the training room while we are here?" Sienna asked us, both me and Blake looked at each other and shrugged.
"Okay, but don't we have to tell the general we are going to train?" Sienna gritted her teeth at my question, but nodded her head.
The four of us walked out and soon changed to our traveling clothes, Sienna then dragged one of chairs to the center, while the three of us sat in front of her on the bed.
"Yeah, we don't want to cause any problems while we are here." As soon as she said that, the door opened and entered a Faunus.
Before he entered, I quickly changed my form and stared at the Faunus who entered without permission.
The man had dark blue hair and had dark skin, he wore an atlas uniform, which consisted white suite with a red sash running diagnolly across his chest.
"Hey there, good to see some fellow Faunusus." He tried to sound cool, but looking behind him, his tail was wagging fast.
"Uh….yeah, nice to meet you." Sienna replied in a awkward tone, the five of us didn't say a thing, thanks to how he acted.
Thankfully I decided to break the awkward atomosphere by jumping down and standing in front of him with my head tilted.
"Hello, I'm Aiko. What's your name?" The man smirked and pulled his hair back, seeing him do this made me cringe at the sight.
"Heh, nice to meet you kid, the names Marrow." Once again, this made the atmosphere awkward.
"So…..I heard you need a guide." This made Sienna suspicious of him, and guided me behind her.
"Were you just standing outside?" Seeing how he said the wrong words, he began to panic.
"W-wait, it's not like that!" Before he could make the situation worse, the general came in and placed his hand on Marrow's shoulder.
"Stand down, I'll take it from here." Marrow then left the five of us alone, leaving us in a weird situation.
"I apologize on his behalf, he is…..more mature than this." He said with a sweatdrop, but then composed himself.
"I wanted to take you on a tour of Atlas, but I decided against it, since most of the citizens would react negatively when they saw you." Sienna grumbled silently, but sighed.
"So, what do you recomend, general?" He then sighed and then look outside, seeing Marrow who had stars in his eyes.
"It's best if you train, since it seems you have some experience with combat." He said while focusing on me.
I chuckled nervously, remembering on what I did to the group that bullied me and Blake a while back, but didn't say anything.
"That's fine, I have to train them anyways." Me and Blake sighed and were now moping since we were about to train.
"I….can see they are excited." Sienna just patted our backs, but to us, it was more of a smack.
"Oh yes, they are." She said with a smile, but instead of a kind smile, it was a dangerous one, and we could tell what she wanted to tell us.
The general then coughed into his hand, and stepped to the side to signal us to follow him. The four of us then began to follow him, with Sienna behind us, Marrow tried to approach Sienna.
But was met with claw marks on his face, he covered his face and tried to keep quiet, but I could hear the small whimpers.
After what happened we passed by multiple classrooms, only this time, they were empty. I was curious on why, since it was only Friday.
"We gave the students a day off, in order for them not to see you, we don't want any more conflicts." I kept a kind smile but underneath it was something else.
'Conflicts? Conflicts?! The four of us spent the entire fucking trip to travers to your city, only to encounter racists all the way! So excuse me for not believing that seeing the students will create 'conflicts' you over paeronid metal piece of shit!' I continued to mentally rant but soon stopped when I bumped into him.
"Careful now, don't want you getting injured before we start training." Sienna smirked at me, but her eyes showed dissapointment.
'I spaced out again.' I thought, but I then heard my mother click her tongue, that's when I knew, I fucked up.
'It seems you have been slacking, I think I'll have you start training with your grandfather.' I wanted to make an excuse but my grandfather spoke.
'Kid, it's best if you just accept your fate, he'll hath no fury like a woman scorned.' I could only sweat in fear for what I am about to face.
"Since it's going to be the four of you, I decided to ask the ace ops to help you." He then motioned down to the grid field, and four people were there.
There were three girls and three boys, and all of them had combat uniforms that represented the academy.
The first girl, had tan skin, and was toned. The sides of her hair were buzzed down and the center was kept as a mohawk, while the front tip was dyed blond.
The combat attire she wore hugged her body tight, and their was a metal backpack behind her.
"The first one is Harriet Bree, she specializes in hand to hand combat." Harriet had her hand on her hips, and she looked at me and Blake in annoyance.
"Sir, I wish to know, why do we have to little kids in the academy?" She was then knudged by the other girl next to her.
The second girl also had dark skin, but was taller than her. She was more muscular as well, and behind her was a hammer with a small knife at the end.
Her hair was brown, but was cut short, and she didn't wear any shoes underneath her feet.
She then approached the two of us with a smile on her face, causing Blake to hide behind me.
"O-oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." She whispered while looking guilty, she then knelt down on one knee and extended her hand.
"I'm Elm, it's so nice to meet you." She smiled, seeing her smile at us, we had to make sure not to close our eyes.
Since out of the five people we are seeing, she was the most cheerful and kindest out of all.
I held her hand with my own and shook it, while Blake waved at her. Seeing how we said hello, she soon joined the rest of the squad.
The next girl we all saw was the opposite of the first two, she had pale along with white hair that reached her back, she had it tied into a bun.
On her waist was a sword, but looking close I could see that it was two swords that were formed into one.
She had blue eyes and had a cold aura surrounding her, even if she didn't say anything, she still made me feel a bit nervous.
Sienna and Ilia on the other hand looked at her in rage. I could feel their bloodlust pouring out of them like a waterfall.
"No need for the hostile looks, I've left my family behind because of what my father is doing." Now it was my turn to look at her in rage, which caused the girls to rush to my side and try to distract me.
"Aiko, I know family is importante to you, but keep your cool, we can't let them know about what you really are." Sienna hissed, the six of them all looked at me in confusion, Winter on the other hand flinched at my glare and instantly placed her hand on her sword.
"Brother, please calm down." Hearing Blake plead was the key to instantly calm me down, but I kept glaring at Winter, who still had her guard up.
"Schnee, stand down!" James ordered, Wimter then snapped out of her guarded state and instantly relaxed.
But with the sweat still on her brow, I could see how frightened she is. James then sighed and motioned to the two boys.
One of the two was a pale man with a thin body, his entire head was shaved. On his left hand were two large braclets, while on his right were three beaded braclets. Finally, there were three stones that were imbedded in the center of his head.
I didn't see a weapon on him, after examining him after a few more seconds, I saw a small smile and he bowed in our direction.
"Greetings, it is nice to meet you." He said in a relaxed manner, seeing him, I could tell he was the calmest out of the entire group.
And finally,the last guy in the group, he had white skin and had brown hair, the clothes were the same but he had a few accessories.
On his chest, he had a four leaf clover, in his waist was a rabbits foot, and finally he had a horse shoe.
And on his hip, I saw a fishing line. I was curious in why he had a fishing line. Looking closer at the three trinkets I assumed that his semblance was related to luck.
"And finally, the leader of the Ace ops, Clover." The said leader then approached us and knelt down, smiling at the two of us.
"Hey there, as the general stated, I'm Clobwr, I hope we can get along." He then held out his hand and smiled.
I returned the gesture and soon stepped to the side, Blake was hesitant at first, but soon poked out.
"H-hello, it's nice to meet you." After the introductions were finished, James then turned to us and smiled.
"These five will train you to the best of your abilities, since not only will you be facing discrimination, you will maybe have to defend yourselves." Sieanna wanted to deny it, but sighed.
"Fine, who's up first?"
