Lake had a stunned look on his face as he heard Kate's words. However, unlike before, this time it wasn't an act but a show of his genuine surprise. His brain froze up as he tried to process what he just heard, even stopping his act of reading through her fate in the process.
"What did you just say...?" Lake asked again to clarify his thoughts, but his brain had already started formulating a logical conclusion in that short time.
"I don't know much myself, but it seems that your parents and mine had a really close relationship a long time ago." Kate spoke as she blew on the fish she picked up to cool it.
"I see..." Lake had already calmed down at this point and began to review what he already knew.

I knew I promised that I would try to update every other day last month, but I realized that I sucked at keeping that promise.
Instead, I'll just try my best to update, and I won't be making any promises since I feel horrible whenever I break one.
Anyway, from now on, you may notice chapters becoming a little bit shorter in the future. This is a trade-off I made so that I could upload more frequently, as previously, chapters were rather long compared to the standard, and I spent a lot more time and effort writing them, which eventually led to me missing the deadlines. So if you happen to feel that chapters have become shorter from now on, that's the reason why.
