"All joking aside, little Lark. I don't care about any of them…" The Lord leaned closer, his forehead touching hers as they lay on the bed facing one another. "…Not my brothers, your father, or Jackson. Not a single one of them has any effect on the decision to keep you beside me and make you mine."

Christopher kissed Rose on the tip of her nose.

"I know you are the one I have waited a lifetime for. The only one I have ever truly wanted…"

"Otherwise, do you think I would have ever placed this band on your finger if I weren't serious?"

Christopher took Rose's left hand in his. He played with the ring he placed on her finger at the lodge. Inwardly marvelling at the intricately detailed filigree band set with a solitaire diamond that he had created just for her.
