Chapter 30: 3.03

As Helena entered the locker room, she found Meredith drinking a bottle of Pepto Bismol. Scrunching up her nose in disgust, she asked. "Huh, why are you downing Pepto? Are you ok?"

"Yeah. Just not feeling like myself." The girl answered, taking another gulp, as the short girl changed into her scrub top.

"O'Malley seems to have that effect on women. Ask Dr. Torres." Alex teased, taking off his shirt.

"What's that supposed to mean?" The shorter boy asked, Helena now switching her pants.

"Dude, you threw her out on her ass."

"Yeah, that kinda mean." Helena shrugged.

"Who told you that, Alex?" George asked.

"Torres. Don't worry, I get it. She's hot, but she's not for you."

"Why's that?" Helena pulled her hair back, listening to the altercation as Meredith kept sipping on the pink drink.

"Cause she's hot."

At that, Helena gasped quietly and hit Alex's arm, mouthing the words. "Mean."

As the interns left the locker room, they followed Bailey through the halls. "Let's go people. I've been in surgery since two am, I'm in no mood."

"Yang, you are late." Alex yelled, in hopes Cristina would be reprimanded.

"Hey, I got here before George!" The woman argued.

"I'm here, I was here." George answered, Helena smiling at the two's frenetic pace.

"Nice of you to join us, Yang." The resident said, sarcastically, making Alex smile.

As they kept walking through the hallway, Meredith fell behind, holding her stomach.

"Women troubles?" Cristina asked as she and Helena kept the blond company.

"Men troubles. I think this dating two guys thing is getting to me. The stress of it, Finn, Derek, Derek, Finn. I think I'm getting an ulcer." The blond complained.

"You really shouldn't be chugging medicine, though..." Helena opinionated.

"McDreamy and the Vet are making you sick." Cristina scoffed.

"I just need to make a choice and get it over with."

As they entered a patient's room, Helena presented. "Shawn Sullivan, 62. Had minimally invasive bypass surgery two days to remove a blockage from his LAD..."

The girl was cut short by the patient. "I'm all better now, thanks, Helena. So, what do you think, Miranda? Can I stop being a burden to you people and head home?"

"You need to stop interrupting the doctors Shawny, you just need to listen to what they say." The man's wife told him.

"I need to get back to the dealership. They're gonna can me if I'm out too long."

"They can't can you, sweetie, you're the best salesman they've got." The wife smiled at him.

"What do you sell?" Bailey asked, Helena looking over the man's chart.

"Cars. But my Shawny could sell anything!" The wife answered, fondly.

"I believe he can. What he can't sell me on is going back to work before he gets his oxygen levels up, you put that oxygen back on, Mr. Sullivan, before I even think about letting you out of here." Bailey started, as the man shot Helena a look of amusement as he put it back on. "And if I do, I want your word, nothing fried, no alcohol and no cigarettes."

"You're tough, Miranda." The man laughed.

"If I know Dr. Bailey well, she's not signing those discharge papers before she gets your word, Mr. Sullivan." The short intern smiled at him.

"I give you my word." The man threw his hands up, in surrender.

"Alright then. Mrs. Sullivan, you need to go to the front desk to fill out some paperwork and then you can take your husband home." The resident and the interns left the room. "You alright, Dr. Grey?" The woman asked, noticing Meredith's discomfort.

"Yeah, Dr. Bailey, I just..." She sat down on a nearby couch. "Need to make a choice, is all."

Derek approached her, asking. "Dr. Grey, I'm clipping a basilar aneurism, any interest?"

The blond didn't respond, pale, as Helena looked over some charts. Beside her, Addison talked to Bailey. "Dr. Bailey, can I get..." She stopped in the middle of her sentence distracted by something in the room in front of them. "Oh my god..."

At that, Helena looked up from her chart, confused, and followed the woman's stare, gasping quietly as a hand shot to her mouth. Everyone else, hearing the girl's gasp, followed her look to a new attending in the hospital.

"Oh... my god." Derek whispered.

"Oh my god!" Meredith agreed.

"Is that...?" George started, his brows furrowed.

"McSteamy." Cristina let out.

"Dr. Sloan." Helena agreed.

Suddenly, Helena heard someone puking behind her, rushing to hold Meredith's hair as she emptied her stomach's contents on the floor. At the same time, George yelled. "No, Mr. Sullivan, don't light that!"

The patient had attempted to light a cigarette and, as such, was now on fire. Everyone sprung into action immediately, the fire being extinguished and Mr. Sullivan being taken to the ER in a matter of minutes.

As Cristina went to get Meredith some water, Derek put a hand to her forehead. "You're burning up."

"I'm fine." She answered.

"No, you're not. What can I do?" Helena asked, worried.

"I'm fine!" She insisted.
