Chapter 47: Across the Line
Holly Adams POV:
I was getting a ride with April back to the townhouses where we had left the other cruisers. We were just turning on to the street when April’s radio crackled. Philips voice accompanied by gunfire came through, and while I couldn’t hear what he was saying, April seemed to understand what he wanted.
“Acknowledged,” April said before she turned on the sirens and pulled the car into a U-turn.
“Where are we going?” I asked.
“Captain Philips is taking fire,” April replied curtly. “All available units are heading to the warehouse in the harbor.”
“Got it,” I replied. I leaned back in my seat and settled in for the ride to last a little longer.
We managed to get past another block before I saw something that made me sit bolt upright.
“Stop!” I shouted. “Pull over! Pull over!”
April slammed on the brakes and brought the car to a screeching halt.
“Corporal, what are you --!”
