Chapter 37: Across the Line
Andrew Fray POV:
I’d taken my frozen friend back to my hotel room, sneaking him in through a back door and up the stairs instead of taking the elevator. It was a good thing I hadn’t checked out when I moved into Holly’s penthouse. My new friend was still alive, but they had lost consciousness during the drive over. When I got up to the hotel room, I wrapped him in a blanket burrito to keep him warm while I waited for Holly to arrive.
Holly ended up keeping me waiting for a few hours, and I was at risk of falling asleep when she finally came to the door.
“Andy, what hap…” she tried to ask when I opened the door but trailed off when she saw the man wrapped up on the bed. “Oh my God.”
“He was in the meat freezer at the restaurant King brought you to,” I explained as we went to stand around the bed. “I don’t know how long he was in there for, but I don’t think King was going to keep him in there for much longer.”
