Chapter 36: Across the Line

Holly Adams POV:

Raf and I sat in one of his fancier restaurants, surrounded by people in equally fancy evening wear. Even the wait staff wore suits, but that just made them look like pallbearers instead of people who should be handling food.

Every other visit to a place like this would have had me mental banging my head against a brick wall, but this time was different for two reasons.

Reason 1: I had Andy to go home to this time.

Reason 2: Tonight, might be the last night we would need to deal with King.

Andy had explained the pattern of his old boss to me after we finished that case; that late night deliveries were the ones related to human trafficking. I had noticed a similar pattern with King during my time here. Whenever he took me to one of his restaurants, the fancier it was, the greater the chance he would be given a reason to excuse himself during the meal.
