Chapter 15: I like you

Aurora opened her eyes slowly and was confused when she found out she was in her room. Hadn't she gone to meet Xavier? How did she get back here?

She shook her head slightly, trying to get rid of the aching in her head as she sat up slowly.

"Xavier?" She called out, hoping he was in her head but she couldn't feel his presence at all. It was like he had never even been there in the first place.

She furrowed her eyebrows then slowly got up from the bed then she walked up to the mirror to glance at her appearance and she grimaced.

Her face was all bulged up and her hair was like a bird's nest. What the heck had happened?

She groaned slightly as her head began to ache again. Just then, Roseline walked into the room and smiled at her.

"Dear, I see you're awake," Aurora was about to ask her mother how she had gotten back home but then she remembered she was supposed to be grounded so she just kept quiet and smiled at her mother.

Roseline walked up to her and caressed her face with a smile.

"I've been thinking about what you said and I'm sorry if you think we don't understand you or you're not comfortable around us. Just know that I'm here for you, your father is here for you. You can tell us anything." Aurora almost scoffed. If she told her mother that she thought she was falling for Xavier, they would probably lock her up in a tower.

"I know you guys are there for me and I appreciate it but sometimes, I need friends other than my parents" Roseline smiled.

"Your father and I had a little chat earlier and you're right, you do need a friend so we decided to get you one." Aurora frowned.

"Get me one?" Roseline nodded giddily like she couldn't wait.

"It's late now so tomorrow, our mission is to find you a friend" Aurora sighed.

"Mother, that's not how friendship works" Roseline Frowned.

"I'll have you know that that was how I made one of my closest friends today. Don't worry, everything will work out and you're not allowed to say no. Go to bed, we'll talk later" Aurora sighed as her mother walked out of the room.

They would take time out of their busy schedule just to find her a friend. That goes to show that they would do anything for her to forget Xavier.

Aurora frowned as she thought about him. Had that all been a dream? But it felt so real.

"Xavier?" She called out one last time but when he didn't reply, she decided to try again tomorrow and went straight to bed because of her headache.

The next morning, Roseline came pretty early to wake Aurora up for their 'Girl's day out.

So as they rode away from the castle, into the village in their carriage, a lot of thoughts ran through Aurora's head and most of them were about Xavier.

She didn't want to believe it but she felt like he was ignoring her. She didn't know why she felt like that or what she did for him to ignore her but one thing was for sure, when they got back home, she was marching up to him and demanding answers.

"We are here!" Aurora turned to her mother as she suddenly squealed. Why was she acting like she was the one getting the friends?

"Mother, you're more excited than me" Roseline sighed then grabbed Aurora's arm.

"That's because I'm just happy. If we manage to find a friend for you today then you won't be so bored anymore" But just like Aurora predicted, everyone was just acting nice to her because her mother was by her side.

She saw that girl and her friends that had dumped rotten milk on her the last time and they were all smiling at her like they didn't remember what they did.

Her mother kept trying to force some friends on her and it took everything in Aurora not to scream out in frustration. She didn't want to be anyone else's friend but Xavier's.

"Mother, I want to go home. I don't feel so good" Roseline turned to her with a frown then touched her forehead.

"Does your body hurt? Do you feel like fainting?" Aurora sighed then glanced at the people around them and saw the Judgement in their eyes. She was used to it but still.

"What? Have you never seen a sick person before?" She found herself saying out loud as she narrowed her eyes at the group of girls judging her.

Their eyes widened and they immediately walked away, leaving Aurora with a smile on her face. She turned back to her mother and her mother had some kind of Glint in her eyes which surprised Aurora but she didn't say anything on that matter.

As soon as they got back home, Aurora ran to her room and asked to not be disturbed because she just wanted to sleep and her mother agreed.

After sitting in her bed for a few minutes, she decided to sneak out of the house and visit Xavier. She had to be extra sneaky this time since it was still daytime and everyone could see her.

She did a little happy dance when she was able to leave the house without anyone seeing her and just when she thought she was about to run towards the cave, Someone grabbed her hand and when she turned around, she saw it was Steven.

"What do you have going on in the forest?" He questioned with furrowed brows and she glared at him before yanking her hand out of his grip.

"I don't know how that's your business but I'm tired of you questioning me. You had a hand in my parents finding out where I was, didn't you?" Steven paused his lips.

"I'm sorry. I had seen you entering a cave and I thought something bad was going on so I alerted your parents. I didn't mean anything by it, I was just worried" Aurora frowned.

"You don't have to be worried about me, Steven. You're just a guard and nothing more to me so leave me alone" She was about to turn away when he grabbed her arm.

"I can't do that" Aurora sighed then slowly turned to him.

"And why not? Why can't you?" He smiled slightly.

"Because I like you, I've liked you for a long time, Aurora"...
