Chapter 27: Chapter 27 - A Mess

For now, she decided to wait and watch— they may be weak but they were still mutants and she didn't know what they could do.

She wanted to at least wait for an optimal time before making a move— however, it seemed like her chance wasn't going to come, because as she hide there watching them, one of the males came to a stop and spoke.

"Wait— I smell something."

It was the man that was covered in fur, it seems like he had some sort of mutant ability that allowed him to have an enhanced sense of smell.

His smell was good enough to pick up even her body odor— it made sense since she wasn't currently doing anything to mask her scent.

"What is it?"

Asked the other male of the group as they all came to a stop— their bodies seemingly tensing as they heard the man's words.

They were weak, and they knew it.

Why else would they willingly choose to hide in the sewers away from anyone else if they weren't weak— well that and because they all looked abnormal compared to normal humans.

"I don't know, it smells like a person."

He said as he sniffed around the air trying to pinpoint her location— it was hard due to where she was hiding but her existence had already been exposed.

Hiding any longer would be pointless— now that they knew someone was here they would stay on guard and make it much easier to catch them off, guard.

She decided to reveal herself— at least then she had a chance to catch them off guard by pretending to be a mutant.

Jumping down from the roof she landed somewhat before them— her looks were different than it was before.

She had used the information she had eaten to alter her body to look more abnormal— much like them in an attempt to blend in. Some parts of her face and body were covered in scales, much like a snake's, and her eyes were slit with a slight glow to them.

Her nails were somewhat long like a wolf's— teeth jagged like one too.

She looked more monster-like, which was perfect for a group like the Morlocks that hide because of their looks. Maybe she would gain some sympathy from them.

With that thought in mind, she stepped forward and looked at the group— she recognized none of them, but that was to be expected since she didn't know a lot about the Morlocks and hadn't read too much of the comics beyond the basic newer stuff.

The comics were far to— off hinge— with so much wild and wacky stuff happening that it made no sense or connected to each other in any way or form.

"Who are you?"

Spoke the male with burn marks all over his body as he stepped in front of the group and looked over at her, it seemed he thought himself a leader or protector of some sort.

"I'm just looking for somewhere to hide out for a while."

It was a basic excuse but one that could work quite well if they believed her— and why wouldn't they with how she looked?

However, it seemed her plan had failed— the short girl that looked a lot like a fish had been staring at her all the time when suddenly she jolted back and clinched her head in pain.

This instantly made the group jump into defensive mode and pull away from her— burn face and furry standing to the front of the two and keeping an eye on the girl to see what she was doing.

"What did you do?"

Yelled one of the men at her as she looked at the group confused.

She had actually done nothing— nothing at all.

Even she was confused as to what the hell was happening— she had planned to kill them and eat them but she hadn't done so yet.

So what was this all about?

"I-I tried to look inside of her m-mind."

Stumbled out the fish girl as she struggled to speak the words.

Her hands clenched her head as the other girl stood by her side— trying to aid her. It seemed like whatever happened to her left some backlash that hadn't faded yet.

"It's so-s-so messy."

She stumbled out again as her eyes moved from the ground and locked onto the girl before her— who had been standing there in silence for the time being.

Pondering— observing.

"It's so chaotic, so many voices, so many emotions, so many thoughts. It's not normal— I've never felt anything like it before. It felt like I was drowning."

The more she listened to her the more she came to an understanding of what had happened.

The girl had tried to peer into her mind and was met with the internal connection that her hive mind had with each other. It had to be known that her mind was vast— constantly functioning in order to manage all the hive units she had.

Feeling everything they felt, knowing everything they knew, learning everything they learned, doing everything they did.

It was a lot— she was just made different.

The girl on the other hand wasn't.

So how could she experience, let alone understand, what was going on in her mind? It would hurt her— a lot.

"She's dangerous, r-run."

Was all the girl could mutter out before she passed out from the mental pain she had been in— leaving the others on edge.

They were ready to either flee or fight at any moment.

Chapter 28: Chapter 28 - First Fight

'So they have a mind reader of some sort, that definitely puts a dent in my plan to blend in— but eating a mind reader will make up for this annoyance.'

She thought to herself as she decided to take action— it was just 4 of them and one was already passed out.

"Sally, take Grimlock and run back to the base— tell them we might need help."

Said the burnt man as he blocked the two girls with his body— it was quite brave but he didn't have much time to worry about them because she acted quite quickly.

Pressing her legs down against the ground she sent her body propelling forward at great speeds— the abilities of a rabbit coming in quite useful to instantly reach the man in a matter of seconds.

With an outstretched hand, she slashed at the man's chest, ripping away at his shirt and into his flesh with her sharp claws.

Blood could be seen dripping from the man's open wounds but fortunately for him, he had managed to pull back in time to avoid a deeper wound— nonetheless it was bad.

And he was now shaken.

As she was about to attack the man again she felt her senses warn her about an incoming attack to the side, causing her to recoil in order to avoid it.

'So that's how danger sense works— it's like a feeling in my body.'

"Get your head in the game man."

Shouted the furry as he failed his attack.

It seems he had tried attacking her when she was distracted with the burning man— also saving him in the process— but too bad for him she was better than he had expected.

"You're right I got distracted. Sally go while we keep them busy."

Spoke the burnt man once more as he snapped out of his distracted demeanor and readied his attack— with a snap of his fingers his hands caught on fire.

But it was odd— he was be burnt from his own fire.

'So he gets harmed from his own mutant ability, that's a shitty ability then. But I can make it useful somehow.'

She thought as she gazed at the other man afterward— he was also preparing to attack her at the same time, his fingernails growing into claws as he did.

'And he seems to be some sort of werebeast or something of the sort. Also useless to me currently but better to have nonetheless.'

The men seemed used to team fighting, at least to an extent because when they finally acted to attack her they both did so at the same time— rushing at her from both directions.

She wasn't used to fighting— in fact, this would be the first real fight she had in this world since coming here, and even in her past life, she never really trained to fight humans or anything.

So this would be a good chance for her to learn a little of their skills if she could from watching them— or at the very least see how she fares in a fight.

She didn't move from the position and allowed them to attack her— simply hardening her skin with the multitudes of hardening abilities she had so that upon contact, not even the man's claws or the flames were able to harm her body.

'Quite durable.'

She hummed to herself in pleasure at how durable how abilities made her, not only against physical attacks but also against elemental ones like fire.

"What the hell!"

Exclaimed the furry as his claws simply bounced off her body— he was about to run back but he didn't get the chance, her hand shot out and grabbed him by the neck, holding him in place.

"Let him go!"

Yelled the fireman as he went to attack her once more, but she simply spun her body around and kicked him away with her foot— doing all this while still holding onto the furry wasn't hard thanks to her enhanced strength that could crack even boulders.

"I would like to do this longer, but it seems two rats have gotten away."

She said as she glanced in the distance where the two girls could be seen fleeing— or rather one of them could be seen dragging the other girl away.

Without wasting any time she dug her claws into the man's neck, a burst of blood splatting on her as she did as the man started to bleed out at a rapid rate.

He started to thrash around even more violently than he was doing before— attempting to get out of her grip— but it was already too late.

He was dying, and the other man would follow him soon.

She waited for him to stop thrashing— losing too much blood to keep fighting before dropping him on the ground and making her way over to the fireman.

It seems she had kicked him much harder than she had thought— controlling her strength wasn't easy when she didn't know how much she could use, or how weak the things she was hitting were.

She had accidentally broken quite a few of his ribs and left him unable to move properly— but he wasn't willing to die so easily.

"You bastard! How dare you!"

He yelled with pure anger and hatred in his voice as he watched his friend dying before his eyes— the killer now walking towards him covered in blood without a care in her face.

His body burst into flames as he yelled his words— his entire body. The flames were so hot it caused all his clothing to burn away from his body and even the heat caused ripples in the air.

It was quite impressive— but she could see the damage it was doing to his body.

The burn marks on his body were actively getting worse and she could see parts of his body that were literally melting as he used it longer.

It seemed he had planned to kill himself along with her somehow, but she couldn't allow him to do that.

She needed his body to eat him.
