NATALIE’S P.O.V

Maverick served the pancakes he made and quietly we ate our breakfast. It tasted nice, I didn't know he cooked that well. I looked up at him after a while only to find his eyes on me. I felt my words fade out, I couldn’t speak. Even if I tried, no word would come out surely.

“Is the food good?” he asked. Was he worried about the food being bad or about me eating bad food? I couldn’t say which it was exactly. I looked away from him and nodded. That was all I could say. He smiled and continued eating. As I chewed the last bit in my mouth, I thought to myself–one year is very far away. Will I survive one year being locked in Maverick’s house? I swallowed and drank the glass of water. Then I stood up and began walking towards the stairs to my room.

“Get your things ready, we leave for Florence tomorrow,” he said. Does he ever add a please to his words? What if I’m not interested? I nodded my head and went further to my room. Once in my room, I just lay in bed.
