Chapter 6: Ch 6 More Training and A Test
The next day Gean was asked into a meeting with the Kaminoan High Council. He was told that his design for the Alpha ++ was good but to expensive. They implied that they would wait and see how his personal ship handled and then they might approve some elite squadrons of them.
They then informed him that he would be undergoing the next stage of his training and testing. The council had developed simulations of large scale space and ground battles. He would command entire fleets in the space battles and multiple legions of clones in ground battles. The final test for him would be a simulated capture of a planet. The simulation would include everything from intelligence gathering and what forces to use, to the space battle and the capture of the entire planet. Gean would be in charge of everything. The point of the test was to see how he handled being a general/admiral. If he passed he would become the first and likely only clone capable of reaching that rank.
Over the next 5 months Gean went through one simulation after another. The space battle simulations ranged from surgical strikes using only bombers, all the way to massive armadas fighting each other. The ground battles similarly ranged from commando raids to massive battles with hundreds of thousands of combatants. The opposing forces varied too. Some times it would be clones using the same equipment he was used to. Other times he would be facing droids and occasionally he'd be facing opponents he'd never seen or heard of. He passed all of the simulations.
On the 6th month Gean was given the info package for his final test. He had to gather intel and make a plan. His target was a fictional planet that contained environments of all sorts. Cities, jungles, forests, deserts, planes, mountains, snow and ice, all environments. His objective was to eliminate the occupation forces with limited civilian casualties and environmental damage.
Gean gathered intel inside the simulation on his target. He sent small scouting teams and hacked data networks. The opposing force was a massive droid army and fleet. They even had factories to constantly reinforce themselves. He was impressed with the sophistication of this simulation.
Gean's first move was to covertly send in many Commando squads. They would take out strategic targets and find good landing areas for the main force. He then moved his forces in for the space battle. He sent a large fleet first and when they engaged he hyperspaced in 2 smaller fleets on either flank. The final blow was to hyperspace in from behind the enemy fleet, a bomber strike group, unseen before it was to late. His plan worked perfectly even though all of his space forces combined were out numbered. The opposing fleet was eliminated completely.
The next move was to send his LAATs and Acclamators to the drop points designated by the Commandos. Many of the droid manufactories were already taken out by the commandos. Any remaining ones not in urban areas were hit by bombers. The rest of the ground battles went good. He had total air superiority, bombers, fighters and gunships were crucial to easy ground victories. His forces swept across the planet with minimal losses. He had completed his objective and won the simulation. Gean was satisfied with his tactics. He was happy with the performance of his new and modified equipment. They all worked well and saved many of his clones lives.
When Gean left the simulation that he was living in for the past month, he was greeted by the Counsel and Jango. They all congratulated him on his great success in the simulation.
Jango said "I hope my son Boba will grow up to have the skills you do."
Lama Su told him "You surpassed our expectations and we grant you the rank of Grand Commander. You will have the designation of general when leading ground forces and admiral when you are commanding space forces."
Gean was very happy. Whoever the clone army was being made for, he would have some say in the decisions and could sane many of his brothers. He had a few more thoughts. If he was going to be commanding large groups, he should have a command ship. He would have to think of a design and see if he could get it made. He should also see if he can find out who and why him and his brothers were created. He could start discreetly looking into that.
As he was thinking this Jango told him. "By the way I got word from Kuat Drive Yards that your ship is complete and ready for pickup. You get some rest tonight and I'll take you tomorrow."
Perfect he could pick up the Alpha Sanctuary and while he was there he could get ideas for a command ship.
AN: Future battles will be described in more detail. I'm trying to get through the setup. I can't wait to get to the clone wars. I have many ideas for the future general direction of the book. I just need to get everything in between.
