Chapter 24: Chapter 24: King of Dragons

After a moment, the dragon before me transforms. It shrinks down, until it’s taken the form of a man. He’s strong, muscles large. His skin is peach, and his hair is long and gray. His face is hidden behind a bushy beard, but what I can see is sharp and stern.

He furrows his thick brows, his eyes nearly disappearing beneath them. He turns to look at Eurus and Zephyr, and in a deep, gruff voice he says, “Bring him in.”

They pick Dominik up, carrying his body into the cave. I follow along, waiting for my eyes to adjust to the darkness. When it does, I see that the cave is in fact, just a cave. There’s a pile of bones in the far corner, large corpses of various animals. It smells sour and rotten. Aside from that, I can’t see anything else.

“Here,” the man says, pointing to a spot on the floor.

Zephyr and Eurus carefully place Dominik down, moving out of the way. Zephyr sidles up next to me, leaning down to whisper in my ear. “This is Magnus,” he says. “King of dragons.”
