Chapter 30: Upgrades, People. Upgrades!

Jason had quite a few things he wanted to work on but he was limited by his current level of Robotic Engineering. He had +5 in both the Synth Cells and Meta Power Mimicry due to Ivo and Morrow's specializations.

"I can't turn into Superman but I should be able to make something comparable to a street-level hero."

Jason bought a bunch of weapons and grenades from different timelines in Cyberpunk as well as a few drones from 2077. He planned on using all of them to dissect and use for parts.

Jason bought himself a ripperdoc hand that came with several tools fixed into it. Even if he was going to have to get rid of it later, it was needed to properly take apart all of the items. Jason spent 3 days straight taking them all apart and turning his room into a pit of parts.

Rose had walked in once and walked right back out after throwing out a comment about not having to worry about Jason going out and getting involved in Penguin's war.

Once he had all the parts in front of him, Jason had a major decision to make.

'What do I need most? No. I need that. That's the main rule if I really wanna have all of my other upgrades in the future.'

So Jason started working on it. Over the next few weeks, there were several trials and errors. Mistakes were made. Small explosions here and here. A lost finger or two.

At the end of the week, Jason ended up with another cyberarm and a small needle filled with silver liquid. After admiring the liquid for a few seconds, Jason injected it into the base of his spine. The young man felt a euphoric rush as the liquid traveled through his spine and then branched out throughout his entire body.

That liquid had two things inside of it.

The part that took up most of the liquid was the nanites. Billions or even trillions of them that each found themselves attached to Jason's cells. Their current purpose was to act as a supersoldier serum but in the future, they would be the basis for Jason's future upgrades since they would act as batteries with nearly unlimited energy supply and would allow him better communication with those upgrades.

The second thing inside the liquid traveled to the center of his spine. This was the Master Nanite. Just like the other nanites in his body, the Master Nanite served a current and future purpose. The current purpose was simply to produce more and more nanites but in the future, it would act as the command center. The one machine that Jason could use to take in the feedback from all the other nanites in his body and his tech.

Jason let the feeling of the nanites coursing through his body calm down. And when he did, he felt something surprising. He could feel his entire body.

'Wait. I can truly feel them again.'

Even if cyber limbs could replace real limbs and had nerves that allowed their owners to feel through them, something always felt off. Like an artificial feeling.

But after getting his nanites added to his body, Jason could truly feel through both of his arms like they were his own. Power through ever every wire, warmth on the Realskinn, the tools in his hand. Each and every one of them was truly a piece of him.

'How long until Savage gets here?' Jason asked himself before looking at the date. 'Two days? Plenty of time to do some light upgrades.'

---

Vandal Savage and Talia stood opposite of each other at the Gotham Docks. Talia had Professor Ivo in chains at her feet with Lady Shiva at her side. Opposite of her, Vandal stood with several armed men and women behind him.

"Why do you have Ivo, Talia? That kid, Red Hood, told me that he had Ivo himself and was planning on selling him to me."

"He's my student. I was just holding onto Ivo for him while he was handling other matters."

Vandal became more interested in Jason after hearing this. He worked with Ra's but the old man was unable to handle his immortality. It was affecting his mind far too much. Vandal was hoping to find a more stable leader for the League of Assassins.

Originally, he was planning on helping Talia overthrow her father by offering her some men but if Jason was involved with her, he was more than willing to spend even more helping her in order to make an investment.

The groups heard the clacking of boots meeting the hard cement of the docks. Both sides turned to see who was approaching them.

A group of 7 was walking toward them. In the middle was Jason who as sporting several upgrades. Besides the larger right arm that fit his body, Jason had his vest open to show a black shirt with a red Edgerunners symbol on it.

On Jason's right were his initial group of Rose, Ballistic, and Velocity while his right were the newer members of Harley, Scandal, and Knockout. Everyone was wearing red, black, or some combination of the pair. They were all carrying weapons that Jason had either bought or upgraded himself.

Jason walked up the Vandal and held out his hand. The older man knew what he wanted so he had his men push forward the large crate filled with cash.

Jason broke the lid off before he put his hands inside and absorbed all the cash. Once he confirmed that he had gotten the correct amount, Jason nodded to Talia. When she saw his nod, she passed over Ivo to Vandal.

Vandal caught him and had his men bring him on the ship but the caveman didn't join them. He turned to Jason to ask the question that had been bothering him.

"So what is all that money for, if you don't mind me asking?"

Talia also looked on curios. She knew that things were expensive in the system but she didn't understand why he needed 200 million in eddies.

"I prefer showing over asking. Knockout!"

The New Goddess walked up before throwing Jason as far and as high as she could over the water. When he was over 200 meters away, something large appeared before Jason's descent path on which he landed. It was a large black ship that was nearly 400 meters long and over 30 meters tall.

This is what Jason and Rose had planned. Although Gotham would be their starting point, it would not be their main base. Instead, Edgerunners group would be based on the Kujira.

(Will either add a wikipage with his upgrades or list them in the next chapter)
