Chapter 7: Ducks Are Evil

[Annie's POV]

He really is a handful~

I mused while teaching him how to clean himself properly and trying to get the dirt off of him that has been accumulated on his body from living on the streets.

The key word being 'trying'. I am failing miserably in doing so.

This dirt just won't come off!

His entire body was covered with dirt and God knows what kind of organisms were residing inside his hair for God knows how long! These kinds of things really makes me wonder how he is still walking normally without feeling ill.

I have so many questions in my head right now, like-

How could he have never taken a bath before?

Why is he looking at that rubber duck with a will of fire in his eyes?

And most importantly...

How in the world was he able to get himself so dirty!?

So many questions yet no answers.

And all of them lead to a single person or in this case, this kid.

The said kid, who was currently trying to escape the evil clutches of the rubber duck that was slowly floating towards him...

Sigh~

[MC'S POV]

I have fought against many strong opponents in my life.

There was that little green monster that was looking for a chance for me to drop my guard so that it could suck my soul. [It was a Mantis]

There was also that big strong bear that destroyed my secret base while trying to locate me with my smell. [his secret base was a cardboard box(more like his house) and the big strong bear was a chihuahua]

And that flying monstrosity, that still gives me nightmares whenever I think about it. It also had the ability to fly and had cool black wings with a beak, which was probably sharp enough to even pierce my skin if I let it! [It was a crow and yes he is just speaking nonsense]

But I was still able to win against them.

I was able to prevail and claim the title of the number one adventurer in the world after defeating those pests...

But right now, what I am feeling is an overwhelming sense of dread coming from this creature- No.

This Monstrosity in front of me!

It is yellow in colour with round eyes that are just screaming to bring chaos and destruction upon this world!

Its eyes were staring into mine and it felt like it was trying to gauge my soul so I averted my eyes from it as fast as possible (as fast as I can move them in front of Annie).

It was floating over the water inside the bathtub...

Menacingly!

And then it moved.

Oh~ You are approaching me?

Before I could begin the battle of my life with the rubber duck I noticed Annie from the corner of my eye looking deep in thought, so I decided to postpone my battle(roleplay) with the duck for a later date

Annie is much more important to me than a stupid rolepla-ahem, I mean battle.

[Annie's POV]

As I was wondering to myself, a soft voice spoke up breaking me from my thoughts

"Uhm...Annie? Are you alright? You look kind of worried." the kid said while fidgeting his hands.

This kid, he is really observant for his age...

But he is wrong. I was not worried this time

I was just thinking about one important detail that I didn't give much thought till now...

He still doesn't have a name, and I have to give him one.

I am so screwed!

My naming sense is as terrible as it can get!!

This kid is probably going to get the worst name in the world if I were to be the one naming him.

Sorry kiddo...

But you will have to make do with what you have....

And in this case you have me, who is possibly going to ruin the chances of you getting any friends in primary school because of my terrible naming sense *sheds tear*

Before I could think about it more, the kid started speaking again...

"It's okay if you don't want to share it with me but....Please keep in mind that I can also get worried about you. So if you have any problems, I will be there to help you in any way I can!" He said with determination and worry evident in his eyes.

Kid, you don't have to sound so serious all of a sudden. It's not like I was thinking of anything serious at the time but still..

Your concern is appreciated.

Annie:- "Don't worry kiddo, I wasn't thinking about anything serious. At least not as serious as the situation you are gonna find yourself in a few seconds"

Soon to be troubled kid:- "Huh? What do you mean?"

"Look behind you" I replied monotonously

He looked behind himself only to find himself staring at a pair of big round eyes of a yellow monstrosity.

It was poking his back and he did something which proved my earlier suspicion about his strange behaviour correct.....

"AAAAAAAHHHHHH!! Q_Q"

This kid is scared of ducks.
