Chapter 63: Dreaming

As Ebari held onto Varya, she nearly fell asleep in his arms. She hadn't experienced such a comforting environment in a long time.

Once she reassured him that she would be fine and he reassured her that he would look into the guard's background, they parted ways.

She had to force herself to get up and finish the rest of her work for the day, or she would fall behind on a few projects.

In the evening, Varya's computer in the corner of her room started notifying her of an impending video call, and she quickly pulled on her lab coat. She ran her fingers underneath her eyes to make sure there was no evidence that she had been crying.

As she got to the computer, she saw Dr. Brie's name flash across the screen, and her eyebrows knit together in confusion.

"This is Varya." She answered the call.

"Varya!" Dr. Brie exclaimed. "I was sorry to see you leave so quickly after the presentation!"

Varya gave as genuine a smile as she could muster up, and she shrugged her shoulders.
