---
El-Melloi II crossed his fingers in front of his face, his bloodshot eyes coldly surveying Luvia Edelfelt and Tohsaka Rin. The overwhelming aura he exuded, dressed in his battle attire, made El-Melloi II look like a true monarch.
Even the assertive entrance of Luvia felt deflated, like a balloon losing air, as she lowered her head obediently.
Gray carefully placed a cup of coffee beside El-Melloi II. "Master, please don't be angry. Miss Luvia and Miss Rin just wanted to greet you."
Indeed, she had barged in with a queenly laugh, sitting down on the sofa with an air of dominance.
Luvia was just that kind of person; her boldness came from her capital and strength. Technically, they were opponents in this mission, and it was entirely normal to challenge the opponent and suppress them.
Normally, El-Melloi II would simply shake his head in resignation. However, he had just pulled an all-nighter and had only slept for less than an hour before being awakened.
He was in a prime state of morning grumpiness.
Yet his rationality remained, so before his grumpiness faded, he silently continued to stare at Luvia and Tohsaka Rin.
Cyd smiled as he sipped his tea, enjoying the sight of Luvia and Tohsaka Rin being intimidated.
They looked so impressive, yet when faced with an enraged teacher, they were reduced to kneeling.
As Luvia and Tohsaka Rin felt like their souls were about to leave their bodies under El-Melloi II's glare, he finally lowered his hands.
"So, what do you want?"
"Ahem, we are here to declare war!" Luvia cleared her throat, fanning herself to cover her face. "We'll be taking the seven class cards; don't hold it against us, Lord El-Melloi II."
"That's right," Tohsaka Rin added, feeling emboldened now that Luvia had already taken the plunge.
"Class cards, is that what you're talking about?" El-Melloi II raised an eyebrow, pulling out two cards from his pocket and placing them on the table. "We collected two last night."
Luvia and Tohsaka Rin, maintaining their brazen demeanor, fell into an awkward silence.
The previous night's conversation still fresh in their minds, they realized that the El-Melloi II they had dismissed as unbeatable had actually defeated two servants.
"It seems you got those two magic outfits from that one, huh?" El-Melloi II crossed his legs. "Ruby, Sapphire, come out."
"Ah, caught me! Gray, did you miss me?" Ruby, adorned like wings, emerged from Tohsaka Rin's hair and twirled in the air.
Gray turned pale and hid behind Cyd.
"Sister, we're discussing important matters now," Sapphire appeared from Luvia's hair, her voice more sensible than Ruby's playful tone.
Cyd watched with interest as Ruby and Sapphire flew around.
"But you really startled me. You, who refuse to become a magical girl, managed to defeat two servants," Ruby twirled near El-Melloi II's head.
"Get away," El-Melloi II waved his hand dismissively, as if swatting away a pesky fly.
"Did you miss me, Gray?" Ruby tried to float toward Gray.
"Hey! You artificial spirit, do you believe I'll bite you?" Add, caged nearby, jumped around impatiently. "Gray is my contractor; I won't let you have her!"
"Ahhh! A girl as cute as Gray is definitely more suited to being a magical girl!" Ruby shouted in discontent.
"It's you, isn't it?" Luvia glanced at Cyd. "The one helping El-Melloi II collect class cards."
"Who knows?" Cyd shrugged with a playful smile.
"That's perfect," Luvia pointed a finger at him. "I lost to you once before; this is my chance!"
"Are you suggesting what I think you are?" Tohsaka Rin widened her eyes, realizing the terrifying yet fitting proposition for Luvia's character.
"Let's gamble the class cards for a showdown!" Luvia boldly placed her foot on the table.
Of course!
Tohsaka Rin covered her face, aware that wanting something and taking it without hesitation was precisely why many disliked the Edelfelt family.
El-Melloi II's lips twitched; even if they were competitors, he was still her teacher. Did she really not worry about failing the assessment?
"I refuse. My goal this time is just to collect class cards," El-Melloi II took a sip of his coffee and shook his head. "I don't want to get into unnecessary trouble, and you don't even have class cards. This bet can't be made; if you truly want to challenge us, at least produce two class cards."
"I don't have any class cards, but I can offer something of equal value in exchange."
With a snap of her fingers, a burly butler placed a box on the table.
"If you win, all of this is yours."
More money?
El-Melloi II sighed. The Edelfelt family was wealthy to the point of being outrageous, but the value of class cards was immeasurable. How much could this box contain, even if it were stuffed with the largest denominations?
"This isn't money…"
The box opened, and the sparkling gems made El-Melloi II swallow the rest of his words.
How much is this worth…?
Having witnessed Luvia's extravagant magic before, Cyd realized this was indeed the signature of this super young lady.
Tohsaka Rin stared at the high-purity gems inside the box in silence.
The purity of these gems was staggering, and using them as ammunition for gem magic would have terrifying destructive power; unfortunately, she couldn't afford it.
"If we win, these gems are yours," Luvia said generously, patting Tohsaka Rin on the shoulder.
"Ahhh! I'll definitely win!" Tohsaka Rin transformed like a Super Saiyan, her twin tails whipping in the wind.
"Just as expected from Luvia Edelfelt, so extravagant," El-Melloi II set his coffee down and looked at Cyd. "The class cards are yours; you make the call."
Tohsaka Rin raised an eyebrow, finding it hard to imagine that this seemingly unthreatening man possessed the ability to defeat servants.
"It's boring to always swipe Roman's card," Cyd's lips curled slightly. "Let's treat this as a supplement for our activity funds."
"Oh? So does that mean you're confident you'll win?" Luvia narrowed her eyes. "You're really underestimating me."
"Not at all. I'd like to see the power of a magical girl… no, wait, did you just hesitate for a moment?"
