Chapter three

Shirou stared at the sky, not giving any other indication of being alive other than his chest rising every time he took a breath.

Suddenly he felt something impacting his ribs, obviously, someone wanted his attention.

"What is it, Tsun-Tsun?"

This time, he stopped the foot which would have been very painful if it connected with his side... Not really, since he has been passively channeling prana into his bones, muscles, and organs to make his body sturdier, his eyes see further and his brain remembers and process information much better.

Was it stupid? Yes.

Why? Because when someone uses reinforcements, they had to remember that everything has a limit, for example, if someone uses reinforcement on a pencil, it will explode if the prana is more than the object can handle.

Theoretically, his eyes, brains, and veins could have very well exploded and he isn't saying anything about the bones and other parts of his body.

"Stop calling me that!"

He hummed in response, not giving any definite answer, getting an annoyed "Hmph" for it.

Rin sat down next to him and remained silent, expecting him to ask what was wrong.

And as expected of Shirou Emiya, he shattered the expectations as he always did.

"You're on period, aren't you?"

Yup, this was Emiya Shirou, he never provided anything less.

"You ass!"

(Hah, too easy.)

___

In the dojo, Shirou stood, staring at the wooden dummy at the other end of the room, holding in his left hand, his newest creation was held.

His face impassive, the redhead grabbed the handle of the blade.

With a quick tug and assistance of his thumb, drew the sword and slashed at the air, still staying in the same place as he was.

The wooden dummy was cut in half at the waist, the top half falling to the floor.

This was his newest creation but it wasn't the beat of his swords for one simple reason.

Scanning the sword in his hand, he grabbed the other end and bought the flat of the blade down on his knee, breaking it in half.

"Bitchin'."

Sighing, he projected the blade again, if he reinforced it, it would last longer, but... It wasn't worth it. If it is so brittle, then it wasn't worth reinforcing.

Closing his eyes, Shirou concentrated, recalling his ancestor's memories, he needed something sturdy, something sharp, something that would last...

(That rhymed.)

He noted absently, while the new blade materialized in his hand.

Looking back at the dummy... Well what was left of it, he slashed again, receiving the same result.

"Now, if I can make it to do that on command."

Shirou sighed, letting the projection disappear, he needed to work on it some more, maybe sleep on it.

But right now... He was hungry.

Cleaning up the mess he left, he walked toward the kitchen, he had some five-star chiefs to put to shame.

"You know, Tsun-Tsun, I have a confession to make."

Rin looked over at him with a raised eyebrow, seemingly processing what he just said, before blushing and turning her head to the side.

"What is it?"

Shirou just looked on impassively, this situation was serious, not a joking matter...

"I... I think I'm an asshole."

Rin looked back at him, expression set in a deadpan as if expecting him to continue with his great confession.

"... Now, don't get me wrong, I like being an asshole, it's just, surreal, you know, suddenly making such a self-discovery."

"..."

"...Did you know that double-tapping a dead man is a war crime? Like, what if they're not dead? I'd rather shoot a dead man than leave someone alive so they can shoot me in the back later."

She threw her shoe at him.

Effortlessly catching the said piece of clothing, he hummed in thought.

Stepping to the side, he dodged a lunge from the female menace and kept thinking.

"Hey, if I asked you out on a date, what would you do?"

She seemed to freeze in the process of rushing at him again, face burning up before straightening up and coughing in her hand.

"I- I would have respectfully declined."

Shirou stared for a moment, appraising her answer in all of its glory along with her rigid figure, he could practically see the drop-dead gorgeous woman she would become and he would lie if he said that he was not interested, he was a man... Well, a teen, after all, damn hormones.

She had the hots for him, too.

...

"Tch, what a waste, I would have accepted and ordered the five most expensive things on the menu out of spite."

Her eyebrow twitched, in irritation or in anger he did not know but it was amusing nonetheless.

Too bad, though, he wasn't really interested in a twelve-year-old.

"I might just do that to Shinji."

... Who was that?

"Who that?"

He pointed the shoe at her only to have it snatched away as soon as it got close enough.

Rin bent to put on the shoe, grumbling all the while.

"The least you could do is to remember the names of your classmates."

That person was his classmate? Since when?

"The only reason I remember you is that you have funny reactions when I tease you, Tsun-Tsun... And Taiga because she leeches off of me and is kind of my legal guardian, but that's beside the point."

The Tsun part of the tsundere huffed in irritation, crossing her arms.

"You can be such an ass sometimes."

Annoying her was so easy yet so entertaining.
