Chapter 7: Chapter 5

"So... Any reason why you have a constant scowl that makes a tapir look pretty?" I was pushing buttons I shouldn't be pressing But then again, he was similar to Nobbu, minus the scowl. Nobbu's angry face was similar but other than that?

Nah definitely not Nobbu material.

"I have no reasons to tell you."

His face looked similar, so similar to someone I know. I would have to drag that memory out later.

"Okay, keep your secrets then."

A quick swing of Norimune in its saya (sheathe) came towards his leg though at a lower speed. It wasn't until the sound of wind cutting the air did he try to dodge. The tip of the the saya smacked in his leg as he stumbled.

"It's to develop your sense."

I spoke with my face rigid. Otherwise a smile would be crawling up my face.

Every so often I would smack his leg and sometimes he'd dodge. I grabbed a pair of earbuds that I found within a deserted shop. They also had snacks, snacks I was making him carry. Total control over your body was important. Hence he would have to dodge while making sure the food wouldn't spill or fall out of his arms.

"Wear these."

He stared at the two orange earbuds with a strange look. "It's to deprive you of your hearing. This way we can train more of your sixth sense."

I was finally getting more hits in. And occasionally he would lift his legs or jump when I was doing nothing. I pulled the earbud out of his ear. "Don't guess, feel the danger. Or would you rather I use the blade?"

Yoo Jonghyuk shut his mouth immediately.

"Well It looks like there's some toxins in the gas."

"You seem to be fine." Yoo Jonghyuk stared at me wit ha weird look.

"The poison is magical in nature so I have a resistance due to my passive."

I was so glad that coins could be used to strengthen my existing passives. I finally have a decent Magic Resistance.

[Magic Resistance] [C]

However my coins had almost disappeared.

[200 Coins] It seems the curse of the Shinsengumi will always be with me.

"Alright, Instead of going straight towards one of the underground bases. We should take down some of those giant over-sized creatures."

Yoo Jonghyuk stared at me with an incredulous stare. "What? It's training. I can't have myself rust my blade by doing nothing. If you don't experience danger then you will never develop that innate sense. Also you get levels for killing mobs. Iskandar would have loved this."

In an instant I sprinted at the nearest giant bug. Its loud screech reached my ears and did nothing but accelerate in its death.

In a flash dozens of cuts spread around the bug's body as I rushed forward before arriving at its head.

[Peerless Blade] [A]

A result of all the training. A style that had no equal. In an instant the bug fell down as a blinding flash resulted in its vital spots all having a gaping hole pierced through them. While all the ligaments and tendons were cut.

While I didn't feel any so called "level up" It was probably due to being maxed out during my time at Chaldea. Perhaps the only change would be the strength of my skills and parameters otherwise I only feel a small increase in my parameters. So negligible that it would not reflect on a visible change.

"Now, your turn, I want you to finish it within a minute." His hand clenched up, he was going to burst at the seams. "

"Take it out on the other bug."

"59,58,57..."

The counting kept going as I rummaged through the bag for that small snack. "Found you grilled corn!" A Yoo Jonghyuk came back with bug blood dripping down his blade and face as he grabbed the towel with righteous fury.

"You made it just in time."

The place just seemed so gloomy. "If only Nobbu were here..." Yoo Jonghyuk for the first time asked something without a snarky tone.

"Nobbu is my friend, even though we bicker a lot. She's a great friend despite all our disagreements. Nobunaga, Demon King of the Sixth Heaven."

"Sounds like a moniker of a constellation."

I chuckle "You're not exactly wrong about that in a sense." His head flicked around, "I did tell you I was a heroic spirit didn't I?"

"I'll tell you a bit as a reward." I gave a cheeky smile as he grumbled about something he was dissatisfied about.

"Heroic Spirits in a simple manner, are those who have left a mark on history and ascend to the Throne of Heroes. Nowadays it is almost impossible for a human to make it into the Throne."

"So you are someone from the past?"

"Yep! Okita Souji, Shinsengumi Captain of the First Unit. Though I am an incarnated Heroic Spirit, I somehow gained a flesh body. I guess my nickname would be the Fearsome Blade."

"And Nobbu? She's the best friend I have in a way."

He stared at me before pinching me. "YEOW! What the hell was that for?!"

"Just processing the fact that you are a legend in the flesh."

He thought for a bit. "So what summoned you here?"

"We Heroic Spirits are the hope of mankind so to speak. The original heroic summoning ritual was apparently to summon the Grand Servants. Heroic Spirits who stood on the pinnacle of their classes."

"I was summoned probably as a response to the prayers of mankind."

"So you are a so called grand servant?"

I shook my head "Nope, I wish. Just an ordinary Saber class."

"I see, so is it possible that this Nobbu could be summoned?"

Now that was something I was wondering about... If I could be summoned, the surely there was a chance another heroic spirit would be summoned. Though the chances of Nobbu being summoned out of the myriad of heroes would be slim.

"Eh... Could be summoned, but out of the various heroes, the chance is slim."

"I'm guessing that with enough coins I could get to the point where I could perform that Endless Three Stage."

"Hey, we're here."

The stench of blood trickled through my nose. The body of a mother protecting her child was laying dead on the floor.

A small breath was let out as my chest heaved.

Interlude- Yoo Jonghyuk

That man was a heroic spirit. Someone from the past engraved onto the very history of mankind. At first I thought he was someone who should have not been alive, someone who might screw up the future that I knew. Someone that might cost me another regression due to the change.

I didn't want to go through an infinite number of regressions.

Yet when I discovered that the will of man had summoned a legend from the past to help. I thought perhaps this run will be the last.

It was a shock when we first crossed blades. It was as if he wasn't even trying, and he didn't. That was why I felt the hope kindle that this would be the last. A teacher rather than a companion. Someone from the past and had overcome countless battlefields.

He had a joyful smile and mood. Despite my best attempts to shrug him away, he grew on me. No doubt, a teacher that I could respect despite his cheery suffocating mood.

Yet that changed when we made our way to the underground stations. The person I knew was no longer there. His eyes lacked light, his cheery attitude vanished and was replaced with a desolate husk that only knew how to kill.

The lights flickered before my eyes and in a blink, blood splattered the walls.
