She bounces up in down in excitement and says "Don't worry! Leave it to me!" I smile and nod in agreement. She waves and takes off running. As she disappears, my smile quickly falls away. I feel like this will be a safer way for me to see more of this world.
It doesn't hurt to help others. This family genuinely seems like a nice family. Eating dinner tonight like that was... nice. Besides, seeing Li Mei upset made me uncomfortable. If it's something I can do to help, I should do it.
The next morning, I woke up and got dressed with the help of the servants that were here yesterday. The dress was a soft white with small splashes of pink here and there. It was a beautiful dress that felt amazingly soft.
Li Jie showed up with a look of displeasure. His face lightens a little upon seeing me, but he says "I'm only agreeing to this because my mother insisted that I take you with me. Stay close to me and stay out of danger. I don't want anything happening to you while on my watch."
I give him a small smile as I shrug my shoulders and nod my head. Everything was fine until we got to the horses. Horses... I look down at the dress I was wearing before looking back at the towering horse.
I sigh and use my magic to help me up on the horse in one smooth motion. The horse freaks a little bit but with a little calming magic, he calms down and leans into my touch. When I look up, I find Li Jie watching me with a bit of surprise.
I give him a knowing smile causing him to quickly look away. I bet he wanted me to fail and walk away on my own. He wasn't expecting me to adapt so quickly. Heh, he's in for a surprise if he thinks I'm that easy to deal with it.
He says a few words to several strong-looking men before leading them all out of the estate. I smirk as my horse follows without me having to say anything. He knows what I want with just my touch so I don't have to pull on the reins or kick his sides.
I use my magic to make the ride more comfortable as I follow the men effortlessly. The men seem genuinely surprised that I can keep up with their pace, but I ignore them as I take in everything around us. At first, it was interesting but once we left the city, things quickly became boring.
Trees... more trees. Oh! Look, it's a rock! I sigh as I follow and decide to keep a look out for anything else but there was nothing. After riding for what seemed like a full day, we finally come to a stop for the night.
As the men begin to dismount, I use my power to do the same. I effortlessly slide off the horse without flashing everyone. Some of the men groan and rub their butts and backs but I do a light stretch and look around.
The men look at me oddly, but no one says a thing as Li Jie begins giving orders to set up camp for the night. After giving the orders, he walks over and says, "You need to tie him up or he'll wander off while you sleep."
I continue to look around before looking up at the sky and waving a little. I say "He won't wander off. I told him to stay near me. It will rain tonight." Li Jie finishes tying the horse to the tree before turning to me and looking up.
He frowns a little before saying "Little Bo said it wouldn't rain until tomorrow." I turn to him and give him a knowing smile before saying "So who will you listen to?" Li Jie pauses as he takes in my face before slightly cursing under his breath and saying "Little Bo is an expert in weather. That's why he's with us."
He walks past me but comes to a stop before saying "I'll ask him again." And then walks away. My smirk grows as I turn and untie the horse and pet him. I look into his large dark eyes before whispering "Humans can be so stupid at times, huh?"
The horse nods his head and makes a noise as if agreeing before leaning his head into my shoulder. I smile and say, "Stay close but go find you something yummy to eat." He turns and slowly walks away as I turn back to the group of men further away.
I slowly begin my way over as they start a fire and start making small pallets on the ground to sleep. As I step close, they grow quiet. I'm sure they don't trust me, and they probably have no idea why I'm even here, but they seem to stay quiet out of respect for Li Jie.
Li Jie walks over and hands me food wrapped in a cloth as he says "Little Bo says it'll rain tomorrow so you don't have anything to worry about. These are hired men and can be trusted but keep your distance just in case. If something happens, find me and tell me immediately. Do you need help setting your bed up for the night?"
I take the food with a small smile and say "No, I'm fine." Someone calls Li Jie so with a nod, he walks away. I look at all the men once again before turning around and silently walking away. After walking far enough away, I use my magic to control the plant life around me.
They come together to create a small room with the leaves covering the dark sky. I create a small blue fire for warmth and light as I sit on the soft flower bed. I open the cloth and find what looks like bread and a dried piece of meat.
I tear the bread open and place the meat in the middle. A flower slowly grows up and comes to a stop right next to me. Without looking, I reach out and pluck the flower and place it on the meat before closing the bread and smiling. Just like a sandwich.
I bite into it and moan a little as thunder rolls in the distance. My eyes dance with amusement as I enjoy my sandwich while saying "Yes, they can be so stupid at times."
