A witch was called from the teachers lounge and the girl woke up after a few minutes. Caroline had gone to bring water.
"I want Caroline." The girl sat up. "Caroline…I mean, Mrs. Salvatore!"
"Just a second." Alaric told her.
Caroline zoomed in quickly and came towards her.
"I am here." She stood in front of her. "What happened? Who are you?"
"I am Jade." She told Caroline. "Jade Salvatore."
"Salvatore?" Caroline repeated. "And relation to the Salvatore brothers?"
She knew Damon wouldn't know because she had already gone through all of the Slavatore Lineage. The Salvatore line ended with Stefan and Sarah Salvatore. Only Damon was left.
"I am….I am." Jade was having trouble talking.
She didn't know how to say anything.
"I am Stefan Salvatore's daughter," She finally said.
The glass in Caroline's hand fell to the ground, it crashed and the pieces scattered across the room.
"It can't be." Caroline wanted to accept it, and not accept it at the same time. "But, it….."
"I am Stefan Salvatore's daughter." She repeated.
"I…." Caroline was without words, so was Alaric.
Caroline asked the witches to come back.
"Could you check…." She didn't know how to say it.
"Phesmatos…"
It was a small spell, she spread out a map and took Caroline's ring on the map. It was something given to her by Stefan. Four spots appeared on the map of Mystic Falls. Three in Damon Salvatore's house and one in the Salvatore School. It could only show blood relatives, so it wasn't Caroline. Damon, Stefanie, Rose…..and she didn't want to admit it, but, Jade Salvatore.
"Jade Salvatore." Caroline repeated.
The sixteen year old girl looked deep into Caroline's eyes. She looked hopeful.
"You can find my father, can't you?" She asked.
"What?" Caroline asked. "Stefan died over ten years ago!"
"No…" Jade stopped her. "I saw him two weeks ago,"
"Two weeks ago?" Caroline felt as if her heart skipped a beat. "You must be mistaken."
"I am not mistaken," Jade repeated. "He's my father, I know him."
"Then, where did he go?"
"He left with Katherine Pierce and their son, James."
Caroline's heart skipped another beat.
"Katherine Pierce?" Alaric asked.
It couldn't be. They had seen both of them die. Before their own eyes.
"I saw them in England a week ago."
"England?" Caroline repeated. "No, no, no….It's impossible."
"It's not." Jade insisted.
"That's no problem." The witch, Mary, picked out an atlas from the corner, "I'll get it."
She started the spell. Two dots appeared in England, just as Jade had said.
Stefan Salvatore, the father of James Slavatore and the presumed dead husband of Caroline Forbes-Salvatore.
James Salvatore, the son of Stefan Salvatore and the stepson of Caroline Forbes-Salvatore.
"I have to go." Caroline turned away.
"CAROLINE!" Alaric shouted.
But, she ran back to her office and locked the doors. She leaned against the door. Tears rolled down her cheeks. The pain in her heart grew. Stefan lied to her. They lied to her!
She zoomed to her desk, looking at the photo of her wedding on the table. She picked it up and threw it across the room.
"LIAR!" She shouted at no one.
Alaric ran and Jade followed.
"Caroline?" He knocked on the door, "Are you okay?"
She was angry, She was heart broken. She was mad. She was broken. She was dying. She was fired. She was shaken.
"I am…." She tried to stablize her voice. "Mrs. Salvatore?" Jade said softly.
Caroline opened the door so angrily that the door knob came into her hands.
"Don't call me that." She snapped at Jade. "Don't call me that."
"Mrs. Salvatore, can you pleas…."
"I SAID DON'T CALL ME THAT!" She shouted again, as she held Jade above the ground.
She croaked.
"CAROLINE!" Alaric shouted.
Never in te seventeen years Caroline had been teaching there….had been a moment like this.
