Chapter 49: A Reunion Gone Wrong.

Klaus Mikaelson stood outside the Mikaelson Compound,

"Are you ready to do this?" Caroline asked.

He wanted to go. Before he had gotten his memories back.

"Yeah…" He took a deep breath.

His emotions overwhelmed him. He was going to knock,

"What are you doing?" She asked.

"Knocking." He turned back, "Don't tell me that I am knocking wrong!"

In a few days he had re-discovered that Caroline was a control freak.

"No…You are not supposed to knock." She told him, "It's your house, remember?"

She couldn't get used to this 'nice' mannered Klaus. She just wanted him back to the way he was.

"Right." He swung the door open and walked in.

They both walked in,

"Hello?" A nine year old girl walked towards them. "Who are you?"

She asked Klaus.

"Klaus." He told her. "Klaus Mikaelson."

He had no idea who she was, But, he felt an immediate connection with her. She wasn't like all the other kids he had seen. She was special. He couldn't explain his feelings.

"Hope Mikaelson." She extended a hand towards him.

He took it. "We are both Mikaelsons! What a coin…"

Hayley Marshall-Mikaelson came inside the room.

"Hope, who came…"

She froze.

"Klaus." She took one look at the man who was kneeling in front of his daughter, except that he had no idea who she was.

"Hope, go upstairs!"

"But…"

"Now!"

"Fine!"

"Okay…Who is this?" Klaus leaned towards Caroline.

Hayley heard it anyway.

"I am Hayley." She told him. "Hope's mother."

She saw Elijah come in,

"And this is Hope's father." She took Elijah's hand. "And we have to go somewhere."

"Caroline?" Klaus turned towards her. "Are you sure we are in the right place?"

He had come back to life after so many years. And his family...His family couldn't be like this, could it?

"We are in the right place alright!" She clenched her jaw.

Klaus Mikaelson had forgotten all the bad things that had happened to him. So, he was no longer the evil hybrid. He was a man Rebekah would often remind herself of. She had Klaus's memory intact.

"Why are you doing this?" She asked Hayley.

"That is none of your business!" Hayley shouted.

"ELIJAH!" Caroline turned to him, "Say something."

"I a…..I…" Elijah didn't know what to say.

He couldn't. He was drowning in guilt.

"This is wrong and you know it!"

"Get out of my house, Caroline." She looked straight into Caroline's eyes. Someone who had been protecting her daughter for years.

"Or I will…."

"Your house?" Caroline laughed. "Not his house?"

Hayley was getting angrier. She was scared. Of Klaus.

"Let's leave, Caroline." Klaus told her.

"Fine!" Caroline walked out of the house.

And he didn't. He came towards Hayley.

"I am not a violent man by nature."

It was the truth. Klaus was never this person he had become. He was forced to become the evil man.

"But, if you threaten her again." He was a few inches from the mother of his child. "I have re-learned a few tricks myself."

He growled. His eyes were golden.

"I just learned that I am the most powerful creature in the world."

He smiled,

"I wouldn't want me to get angry, if I were you."

And walked out.

"He's really back." Elijah watched him go.
