Chapter 32: Off To New Orleans.
Klaus Mikaelson was on the first plane back to Mystic Falls. After all, he did make a promise.
He found her. In the Mystic Grill. It was almost empty. She had a man tied up in a corner with an apple on his head. She was throwing knives at it.
"Hello, Klaus…." She said, idly. Throwing another knife.
"Hello, love." He smiled.
She didn't return it. She didn't even look at him.
"Caroline…."
"Save it, Klaus….Save it for someone who cares!"
She was now ripping the cords, and started to drink from him.
After a few minutes he stopped struggling and went cold.
"I gotta run!" She waved a hand. "This place is dead, anyways."
Klaus wanted to laugh. But…no….This was a serious matter, if she didn't turn on now. If he wasn't there for her. He might lose her....forever.
"You are breaking your promise to me."
She was walking out.
"Is this what your mother would have wanted?"
She stopped.
"She was a woman of law and order, wasn't she?" He told her. "Is this what you want her to see?"
"She's dead! Klaus!" She shouted. "Dead!"
Anger. This was good.
"Nobody cares! Okay!" She was angry, she pulled off a piece of wood, and threw it at him. He caught it.
"You don't know that!"
"The person who loved me, is dead!" She yelled, "My mother is dead!"
"Caroli..."
"There is nothing left for me in this world!" She shouted, "Nothing! I literally have no place to go!"
"Just listen to me….Carol…"
"Every person I thought loved me….." She looked at him, "Never did."
"There is always a place for you at my home!" He shouted back. "You think no one loves you…..Caroline! There is a whole family back in New Orleans! Waiting for you….Caroline."
He thought she had tears in her eyes.
"You think nobody cares about you!" He said softly, "I care about you, Caroline…because I love you."
It hit her. That click. Those words. Emotions flowed in. Those tears that were at the edge of her eyelids, fell down.
"What did I do…?"
Klaus froze. He did it.
"I killed….I tried to kill Stefan…I am…."
She was crying.
"I think Stefan knows he deserved it!"
She laughed for a fraction of a second.
"My mom…..she.."
Klaus hugged her.
"I'm sorry, Caroline." He hated to see her cry. "I'm sorry...…everything will be fine, I promise."
"I hate this place." She was crying. Harder.
"Then, we'll leave…..anywhere you want. Wherever you want!"
Caroline Forbes was all ready to leave Mystic Falls. Probably forever.
"I am sorry I stopped looking!" Stefan stood at the end of the street where Caroline was staying. "I'm sorry…."
She turned around, and stared at him for a moment. He thought she was going to hit him. She hugged him. Stefan was surprised.
"When I said that, I was going to make your life hell." She whispered. "I take it back."
He held close.
"Ready to go, Love?" Klaus Mikaelson came out of the motel room.
"Yes."
Caroline turned.
"We'll see each other, won't we?" Stefan held on to her hand. "Caroline…please?"
"You can come see me." She told him. "I have no home here."
"You will always have a home in my home,"
Caroline shook her head, but smiled.
"Goodbye, Stefan."
Klaus Mikaelson and Caroline Forbes were walking down the street. He was holding her hand, showing her pictures of Hope. Caroline was smiling.
Stefan hadn't ever seen her happier.
The most evil man in the world was the one who did right by her.
