Tyra's Point of View
Present Day
Cassandra undid her seat belt, reached over to undo my belt, and drew me into her arms. I could feel my tears threatening to fall but didn't want to go inside with mascara running down my face. Such vanity, I inwardly laughed. She was so loving towards me.
"She is, was, a human, babe, and you know the rules. Unfortunately, we don’t get to break them just because we have family who are humans," she said, gently kissing me on her forehead.
I knew all of that, but it didn't make it feel any better. I tried to smile, but Cassandra knew me too well. Even though she didn’t have humans in her family, she understood how hard it was. What would I do without her, without her love and devotion? It was what kept me grounded when I had to pull away from my family and friends. There's a bond between werewolves that humans couldn't appreciate or understand.
