Aláine's Point of View
Anxiously, I observed the doctor taking care of Axel. His name was Zayde, and he was softly spoken and as thorough as any vet and seemed very gentle with Axel.
Zayde patted and talked to Axel while checking him. I wondered if he forgot that Axel was just a dog, but I was grateful that he took such good care of him. I was hopeful that Axel was going to be alright.
Strange, but I also felt safe and secure as Kristof held me tightly in his arms throughout the doctor's visit. His hand gently caressed my cheek and neck, seemingly without thought but with such care. It was pleasant and I could get used to this.
"Axel should be okay, but he needs rest. It appears not to be serious, but we have no idea if there is any long term damage," said the doctor. "He will need monitoring for a while to see if there will be any after-effects from the taser. I am sorry I could not give you any better news."
"Thank you," I replied quietly.
