Chapter 33: Chapter 33

Syl turned around to see Horikita, stumbling and looking unwell.

"What's a place like you doing in a girl like this?" He asked.

She looked up with squinted eyes as she just noticed Syl. "What?"

"What's a girl like you doing in a place like this?"

Horikita didn't respond as she was short on breath.

"Need a hand?" Syl asked as he reached out to offer a hand.

"I'm fine."

Syl put a hand to her forehead and felt her burning up.

"Hot!" He recoiled like he just touched the stove.

Horikita didn't even have the energy to make a comeback.

"What room is that?" She asked with an annoyed tone.

Syl read the sign on the door. "Uhh… the boiler room. Is this your destination? I don't think that's a good idea, you're already burning up…"

Horikita replied. "That's not what a-"

Syl waved his hand. "Yeah, yeah, not what a boiler room is for, it was a joke I tell ya! A joke!"

Horikita didn't reply.

Syl sighed. "What room are you?"

"1101."

Syl frowned. "How the fuck are you this lost then?"

"What?"

"This is the basement. You're on floor 11."

"It's not floor 1?"

"Nope, I'm on the same floor. So I know where you are."

"That's dumb."

Syl just shrugged. "Whatever, I'll walk you back to your room."

"I said I'm fine." Horikita tried to refuse.

Syl just walked towards her anyway.

Horikita tried to slap him away when he approached but Syl easily countered by slapping her hand away before he spun on his heels and lifted Horikita up in a princess carry with ease. Then

Syl spun his sword and it shifted sizes before he used telekinesis to float it back up to his ear, resting as his earring once again. All of this happened before Horikita even realized what was going on.

"Hyaa?!" She yelped when she realized she was lifted off the ground.

Syl just activated his stealth skill and walked towards the stairs, no one used the stairs when there was an elevator after all. So they would probably go unnoticed.

Horikita finally came to her senses and realized that Syl was carrying her!

She started wiggling and struggling to escape.

"Put me down!" She yelled.

Syl chuckled. "If you keep yelling like that then other people will see."

Horikita scowled and started throwing punches at Syl.

Syl just tilted his head to dodge with ease everytime a new attack would come his way.

Eventually she threw one that he wouldn't be able to dodge while still holding her so he shifted her weight to one of his arms and used his other hand to catch her punch.

When she pulled her hand away he just let go and held her in two arms again, acting like nothing happened.

She coughed before speaking up again. "I thought you couldn't fight?"

Syl hummed. "Who told you that?"

"You got beat up on the first day of school."

"I thought you didn't know about anything that happened in the class until just recently? Wasn't that your excuse before?" Syl laughed at his own joke.

"I really didn't know about your mom…" She trailed off.

Syl chuckled. "It was a joke! Relax! You really need to learn what a joke is…" He went silent in thought. "Yeah, Ayanokoji probably won't be able to teach you that one…" He said while nodding sagely.

"Huh??" Horikita asked.

Syl tilted his head. "Wasn't he the one who told you to apologize to me?"

"Well, he was, but…"

Syl smiled. "But what?"

"Nothing." Horikita just shut up, realizing that nothing she did or said in this situation would matter anymore.

A few moments later they reached the doorway to the 11th floor.

Syl put Horikita down and started to walk away. "See ya."

Horikita furrowed her brow. "You're just going to leave me here?"

"Oh? Are you missing my muscular arms already? You're like a maiden in love!"

Horikita deeply scowled. "I-"

Syl laugh cut her off. "It was a joke again! Relax! Ghezz you really need to learn what a joke is… Anyway, your door is the first one on the right. I saw other people in the hall and assumed you wouldn't want other people to see me carrying you. Have fun!"

Syl walked away.

When he was far out of earshot a mumble rang throughout the staircase.

"Thanks."

Syl smiled. "You're welcome!" He shouted. Startling Horikita, who just assumed it was a coincidence, I mean Syl was like 6-7 floors away, he couldn't have heard her whisper, right?

Wrong! Obviously Syl has super hearing! Didn't she know??

What an idiot!

Syl continued about his day as he floated Dawn's Ballad back to his hand and used it as a walking stick again.

Syl ended up meeting with a few other class D friends.

"Yo! What's going on?" He called out.

"We are wondering where Horikita went. None of us have seen her." Hirata replied.

"Oh, I just saw her! She decided to take the stairs to her room! Something about extra exercise. What a weirdo! Hahaha!"

"You didn't do anything to her, did you?" Kushida asked.

Syl tilted his head. "What do you mean?"

"Aren't you mad at her?"

Syl laughed. "Why would I be mad? I'm just as mad at Horikita as I am at you, Kushida!"

Kushida was slightly shocked. Didn't Syl hate her? Does that mean he also hates Horikita? But she can't reveal that Syl hates her to anyone… Is that why Syl said it? Because only she would know? Or maybe it was a lie?

Kushida was super confused!

Then Syl spoke up again. "It's impossible to be mad at her! Just like I couldn't ever be mad at an angel like you! Right guys?"

Ike, Yamauchi and Sudo nodded vigorously in agreement.

"See?" Syl said with a cheeky smile as he looked at Kushida.

Ayanokoji interjected. "Did you really see Horikita?"

Syl nodded. "Why would I lie?"

"Are you sure she was alright?" He asked.

Syl nodded. "I don't see why she wouldn't be!" He winked at Ayanokoji.

"Nevermind then…" Ayanokoji said while thinking about something.

He probably just wanted to make sure he used all his tools in the best way possible!

What a guy!

Kushida cut in. "Why did you say that Ayanokoji? Is something wrong with Horikita?"

"No, I was just curious."

"Alright then…" Kushida replied.

"Anyway, what are you guys' plans?" Hirata asked everyone.

"I want to go swimming a lot!" Ike and Yamauchi instantly replied.

"That sounds like fun." Hirata said with a smile.

"More like they wanna see us half naked." Karuizawa said badly.

"Wha- no! We would never!" Ike called out in defense.

"Right? I don't think it's nice to accuse people of stuff like that for no reason…" Hirata said.

"Hmph, whatever then, I'm leaving. Sato and Shinohara want to get food." She replied as she walked away.

Hirata had a helpless look on his face as he watched her go.

Syl called out. "Hey, Karuizawa, ask Shinohara how the new makeup technique I taught her went! I haven't got the chance!"

Karuizawa turned and waved. "Sure thing, Syl!"

Hirata looked at Syl with a thankful look.

Syl just winked at him in response, almost as if saying, 'no problem bro'.
