Chapter 241: I Can't Save You

Ruby smiled and nodded. "Yes, I'm happy after marrying him."

The smile on her face slowly faded as she looked at the cane Oscar was using to support his body. "You must have been suffering a lot these past few years. I wish I could have been by your side when you were trying to survive."

"All of my suffering is already gone after seeing you." Oscar gently stroked her head. "Ruby, thank you for surviving."

Ruby's tears broke out again. She had survived so hard for so many years. She would be lying if she said she never thought about taking her own life, but she always tried to survive because she was sure Oscar would hate her if she gave up.

When she heard Oscar's sincere words, Ruby felt all her struggles were not in vain. All the pain she had received while living in Barnette Manor could not match her happiness when she met Oscar again.

The pain and hatred in her heart toward the Marquess and Marchioness would never fade, but it would no longer affect her.
