Chapter 7: The Movie Begins And Ends
While David goes through the portal, he decides to hop back to the Observatory. "Alright Iroh, lets speed this up and let the start of everything happen. I wonder what the two are doing, along with Pentecost. I know he was there at the Anchorage Shatterdome when Gypsy Danger was destroyed, so I wonder how he's going to react. I don't believe that he would've told anyone, since it would've made him look crazy, and the Becket brothers too."
[Alright then, this is the true start of your journey. Make sure to make wise choices, and no matter what happens, remember that you can always come back here. You are the strongest being out in the world at the moment, since this is just your starting point. So don't get in over your head, or you'll be sorry down the line] Iroh says with the iconic voice.
David nods, and says, "Let's do this."
Iroh speeds up time again, and then moves David back down to Earth. Surprisingly he is right where the Shatterdome was built, and watching Gypsy being launched.
'Alright, with that in mind, lets just follow them. And I don't like being wet, why did it have to be raining? Ugh.'
David uses magic to keep himself dry, and uses platform of Ice to follow the Becket brothers from behind. Finally watching the machine dive into the water, and just follows from above until they get to the ship.
'Man, they move fast for a giant hunk of metal.' David thinks to himself. Still following the lights that are beneath the waters.
After some time has passed, he sees the ship in the distance. 'Finally, it might have been a little bit of time but just wanting to see the action in person is just exhausting.' David thinks to himself. And just like the movie played out, he sees it happening in front of him. But something was different.
The Kaiju was...bigger, than what he remembered. And the glow was a purple, not blue.
'Something is going on here. Kaiju's glow blue, not that color. What happened while I jumped farther into the timeline?'
David moves quickly, appearing inside the head of the Jaeger. And he starts listening into the conversation between the Becket brothers and Pentecost whose still in the Shatterdome.
"Sir, something's different about this Kaiju. It's glowing purple, not like how it's supposed to be." Yancy says over the intercom. "And for some reason, it just stopped moving, like it's waiting for something, and is just staring us down."
"Whatever you do, stall it. We'll send another Jaeger to your position, so just keep with the staring contest for as long as possible. I don't know what is going on, but the more time you make is the better chance you get to live. We don't know what's going on but it's starting to grow, so hold on tight and just sit there." David hears Pentecost speak over the intercom.
David, just sitting behind them, starts to have thoughts race through his head. 'Alright, so this means something has changed obviously. What happened though, I don't know. However, I can only guess someone else is here, there's nothing else that can explain it. I was just changing a few things around to my liking, but this.... wouldn't come from my interactions. It's too much change. And why now, why only when I appear. They two of them in here with me are freaking out, meaning that they aren't used to this, so what or who could have done this.'
Unfortunately for David, he couldn't think any longer as the Kaiju started to move. And quick. The Becket brothers start to react to it, but are to slow to the sudden change out of know where. And David, putting up a shield in front of the Jaeger, defends all three of them.
"What the..." Raleigh starts to say, but then he notices something out the corner of his eye, his good luck charm. The token that David had given to him all those years ago to him, is glowing. "Yancy, look." And his brother turns to him, and looks at what he is looking at, and sees the token glowing.
"Hey guys, long time no see." David says as he's just standing of the back of the giant head. Completely unfazed by the movement of the robot. "I came by to see ya, but I didn't expect that." As he points towards the Mutated Kaiju. "This isn't what's supposed to happen, and I'm sure you guys have figured it out."
"Yeah, kinda got the memo." Raleigh says. And as he says that, he looks back at the Kaiju, that has started to crack the shield.
"I'm gonna help deal with that, but it's gonna cost you both your tokens. Both of you would've died if it wasn't for that shield. I'll be right back." And as he says that, has a lightning strike hit the Kaiju from above, taking advantage of the storm. When that happened he also teleported outside and started floating in front of the Jaeger watching the Kaiju struggle with the electricity flowing through it. Torching it from the inside out, but that didn't kill it.
'Well, I guess it has been mutated, but I can't tell to what extent. To be able to take on a magic thunderbolt like that and still move. I know I didn't put that much effort into it, since I am trying to gauge it. I lack fighting experience. This will be a good chance. I still remember its strengths from the movie, and I hope that that all it's gotten is a boost in ability.'
As he thinks this, the mutated Kaiju starts to move to him. The movement was haggard since it still is stunned and a lot of its body still having that excess electricity. David just moves out the way with little effort. Being in a small body being to his advantage, and having reflexes and movement speed that allows him to move faster than light just making it less than a effort.
David raises his hand again, and this time, he puts much more magic into the lightning, the storm growing stronger in response. And finally, David lets the strike hit, and it does the job. The aftereffect of the magic, scorched the Kaiju all around its body, and charred it. Flesh sizzling even in the cold water, and killed it instantly.
"Hmm. Now that's a lot of damage. Anyway, now that that is taken care of, imma hitch a ride with y'all back to the Shatterdome. Hope ya don't mind." And with that David sits on the shoulder of the Jaeger, on the left one not the right cause he doesn't want to have a hand squish him out of no where.
The Jaeger just sits there for a sec, no doubt the Becker brothers listening to what Pentecost was saying, and then started to move back to base.
When they finally arrived, the Jaeger was docked, and everything put back into place like it was before, and repairs were starting on the Jaeger. However, David just jumped off the shoulder of the Jaeger, and lands at the feet with no trouble at all. Cracking the ground where he landed and getting the attention of everyone around.
"Always wanted to do that, and now I can. Anyway, where do I even go from here?" And he starts to wonder around, oblivious to the fact that people are just staring at him and the cracked floor he left behind. Even more so that the fact that there is a kid walking around like he owns the place.
After walking around in the hanger for a bit, and just kind of poking his head into how the repairs are done, which is interesting to watch, Pentecost comes and starts talking with him. "Been a while, you're a hard kid to find. How you stayed that way, I have no idea, but lets go to my office, I have some questions for you." And with that, he starts to walk away, David just following him.
Finally make it to the office, and he shuts the doors, Becket brothers in there with them, and starts to talk. "Well, it's been a while, for me at least, and apparently for them too. But onto more pressing matters, care to explain how you are still so young, why you have your abilities, and anything else that I might need to know?"
David starts to speak, and it annoys Pentecost greatly with the answers. "Well, I just use some really good skin products. I can do the things I do just cause I wanted them. And for your information, that Kaiju was not supposed to be like that."
The last thing he said made Pentecost perk up. "What do you mean 'Not supposed to be like that?'"
"I mean it like I said it. I told you, I can tell what is supposed to be your future, that Kaiju, wasn't supposed to be that strong, if I hadn't stepped in, those two would be dead. The older brother would've died to the normal version of it, the one that they were supposed to fight. But that, that would've killed them both." David says.
Both the Becket brothers are wide eyed, not wanting to believe what they are hearing, but after going through what they did, they just accepted it and started adapting to it. Pentecost however, didn't just want the answer to end there. "And since you know so much about the future, how much do you know."
"That's for me to know, and for you to find out. However, I'm going to have a change of plans. Do you mind if I borrow your Jaegers so I can plug up the Breach, I'll give them right back I promise. I'm just gonna do some damage and try and find out what is going on. In exchange though, I'm going to take that token, I know I said in like 9 years your gonna use it, why not just use it a little sooner, and just finish the job, and still keep the job while your at it?" David says, putting as much as he can into what he was saying, trying to convince them to allow this.
Pentecost, hearing this, yet at the same time not. Along with the other two in the room. "You mean to tell me you know how to close the breach?"
David just looks at him like he's stupid, "Yeah, I just said that, and you don't have to risk them coming back. In the future you'd risk it with a couple people, whom I wont share, but I'd rather get this done. I don't know what's going on to change this, but I'm going to find out why. I'm more than likely not the only one of my kind here, so I'll take care of them that are on the other side." David says, although is skeptical that he will make it back. 'I do have that dimensional travel magic, it'll just take time. Hey, Iroh, is there anyway that I can make it back here? Or even to you?'
[Yes, you would just make a point of return, marking it and leaving it here. And as for me and the Observatory, no matter which world or universe you go to, I'll always be following you. It makes it easier on you knowing you can look down on the world and get a good view of what you are dealing with and also just to relax]
David just nods, and although the others in the room are confused, they just accept that it's a quirk. Too much information and not enough answers for them. Pentecost however, just accepts it and says, "Alright. If you can tell me how you get into the breach, I'll make sure that the breach is closed."
"Fair enough, anyway to get into the breach, you need Kaiju DNA to get into it. You've tried to nuke it, but it always just bounces off. However, you have never tried to do it with the carcass of a Kaiju. And there's one just in the water outside. So, why not give it a try. Oh, and please do not say anything to your UN about me. I'd rather not deal with politics. I hate them." David says exhausted just thinking of it.
"Alright, I'll get the things ready. It'll take a while, but it'll be done. You two, start prepping yourselves for this mission. You will be the spearhead..." But is cut off when David says. "I'll take care of that, I just need a nuke. I might be able to withstand it, but I don't have the strength to close the breach. I'll do as much damage on the other side to make sure they get the memo. But all I want them to do is just close the breach. One Jaeger will do, two if you want to really want to if you don't feel okay enough."
"Deal. But how are you going to spearhead, I don't see you doing it by yourself." Pentecost asks.
"Again, that's for me to know and you to find out. I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise. Oh, and you guys are gonna want a camera when it happens. Hope you don't mind." As David smiles innocently. "Anyway, since yall are gonna be getting ready, I'm just gonna help myself to anything around here. I won't break anything promise." And he starts to walk away and out the door.
"Wait, I don't know what to call you, so what's your name." Pentecost asks. "Yeah, you told us a long time ago, but we don't remember it anymore, be kinda rude to just call you it or him." Says Raleigh.
David just stops and looks at them. Thinks for a moment. "To be fair, I haven't been given a name yet in this life. I'm just using a substitute until then. So, if ya want to, just call me David. It'll make things easy." And he walks away.
David, getting down the hall, starts to think to himself about why he said that. 'Why did I say that. I have a name, do I just not want to remember it, or use it. I know I hate my past, but I also love what happened too. I don't know anymore.' As he thinks this he face starts to frown. 'I'll guess I get one later. I don't want to make myself a name. It's something that is given. But.....when will I meet someone I can call a parent?' As David thinks this. Some other people start to walk towards him. They're the other Jaeger pilots in the Shatterdome. They are about to walk past each other, and then one of the pilots calls out to David.
"Hey kid, what are you doing here. You shouldn't be alone." Says the one on the left. The one on the right backs him up. "Yeah, its dangerous, come with us till we find your parents okay?" And David just keeps on walking past them. One of them just tries to reach out and grab him, when David dodges and then disappears.
"Uh, you saw that too right?" The one reaching for him says. "Of course you idiot, why would you think I tried talking to him too."
"...Oh. Good point."
"....Should we just pretend that didn't happen, think were just stressed out?"
"Yeah, lets do that, we can chalk it up to your thoughts. In each others heads enough and we start to think alike...Ugh, just realized that's why I started getting lost too" As the pilot starts facepalming.
"Not my fault, you are the one that sucks with directions." The other one says defensively.
David hearing this around the corner a ways down starts to smirk, trying to distract himself. 'Heh, good point to be honest. Never really did think that much into it. If you start having the memories of multiple people put together, guess they start to think like each other too. Memories are what makes us, so if you start putting multiple together, guess you either become one or the other.'
And as he says that, he walks out and sees Gypsy being worked on. 'Guess if they're going to be running point on this after me, I'll just hang out on the robot. Always wondered how it worked on the inside.' And as he does this, he moves up there in a blink of an eye and just jumps down. Nobody realizing what happened. 'Huh, so this is what it looks like. Reminds me of a show with the whole planet made of gears. Gypsy was analog, so I guess that does make sense.' As he continues to look around, he starts to get ideas, and starts working on magic at the same time.
'Well, I've always like working on machines back in the old life. Hmm. I wonder if I can make constructs in any way.' And as he starts to think this 'memories' come to him. 'Of course I have the 'memories' to do it. God really did give me the basics of EVERYTHING. Geez, at least he didn't give me everything. Makes it boring. Oh, I remembered that there was a war horn on all the Jaegers too. I wonder if...of course memories to. But I wonder. If I can combine machine and sound.....hehehe I just remembered something fun.' And as David remembers, he starts to practice while he waits. Although staying in the world this time, and just hiding in the machine till it's time, he doesn't get the magic down like he wanted, but it was a start.
'Hmm, it's not where I wanted, but it does allow me to realize just how much of a starting point I've been given. And the magic is still usable, but it won't be as effective as I want. Although I could just continue to make them, and it'll get the job done. {Sigh} Why doesn't it want to come together like I want it to. I know I'm going to hit blocks, but this is annoying. Oh, its shaking, are they ready to move out now. Nice, I'll get rid of the other world entirely. This is going to be fun. Although I'm a little upset leaving so soon, at least it'll be something interesting. I wonder where I'm going to end up.' And as he gets up from hanging from huge cable inside the Jaeger, he speeds out of it as they are about to seal it up completely, just getting out before the Jaeger's head to spin around completely.
'Hmm, I wonder if I could spook them?' And he makes a portal inside the head again, just like he did the first time. And come to find out, they were expecting him.
"About time you showed up. Major was pissed he couldn't find you anywhere. Where did you go." Yancy asks. "Yeah, he had the troops go through every which way in this place, and couldn't find you anywhere." Raleigh says.
"I was just here in the Jaeger. I was curious and wanted to just hang out. I promised I wouldn't break anything, but I didn't say I wanted to be bothered. Besides, this just helped me out a lot with thinking things through and increasing what I can do with my magic." David says to the two of them.
"You weren't in here when we walked in to get strapped in." Raleigh says.
"I was in the Jaeger, not the head. This is just the cockpit. I wanted to see the body. I can see this is the brain obviously, but I wanted to poke around the chest, see things up close. Got to say, it was cool just looking through things. Oh, and do tell the repair men good job with what they've done, but the framework holding up the left chest plate is warped slightly."
The other two, just confused to all get out, just start thinking to each other. 'Just let it go. There's no point in trying to make sense of someone like this. There's no point. And don't tell Major cause he's gonna flip out, and I don't want to see that man angry.' And they get the green light to start walking after they have been moved outside.
"Hmm, so its just you guys?" David asks them. Both of the Becket brother nod in sync. "Yeah, Major didn't want anyone else to know about you, so he just sent us to deal with it. Told the brass that we were just going on a routine patrol. Make sure that Kaiju we met was actually dead since it 'Something that we haven't seen before.' Got approval almost immediately." Says Yancy.
"Good. Speeds things up a bit." And as David says that. He just tinkers with his magic while they grab the carcass that had been sitting at the bottom of the ocean, and since it was charred and no actual wounds present, never released any "Kaiju Blue" phenomenon, no one other than those who knew about it would know where to look.
They finally made it to the breach, and while they were there, it started to spark open. Nothing coming out though, since it wasn't "time" for the next one to come out. "Umm, David, is that supposed to happen." Raleigh asks.
"Yep, it's noticing the carcass with us. Just throw it into ravine, and I'll take care of the rest." David says, and teleports himself outside quick so that the portal doesn't allow water it. And at the same time casts Reinforcement magic on himself. He had talked with Iroh before hand and asked if he needed any magic to breath, and Iroh said no. His body was special, and specially made to house his soul. What that meant though, David didn't understand. Just accepted it as is since he is a Reincarnation.
David just waved goodbye to the two, and then went through the portal. On the other side was just like how it was shown in the movie at the end. However, instead of falling down like the Jaeger was, instead David was yanked down into the depths, and then just held in place while he came face to face with the Precursors. However, one stood out in front, different from the rest. This one was purple, and it wasn't looking to happy with David.
"Why have you come here, this was supposed to by my world to rule." Says that purple precursor.
"Sorry, but you were doing something that I really didn't like. I don't care if you move onto other worlds, but this one isn't yours to take, and besides, we both know neither of us is supposed to be here." David says. He can clearly see the Precursor is not supposed to be like that. But for some reason, feels that it's just wrong.
"I mean I like what you've done with the place, lights are a good addition, but to be fair, you are just ruining my fun. So I came here to have exactly that." And as he says this, he transforms into his true body, the 100ft tall 9-tailed fox. "So I'm just gonna let ya off with a warning. I'm just gonna break some stuff, hopefully it'll be enough for you to get the memo, but I ain't gonna let you ruin my fun with the giant robots."
"I will not allow this, I have been working towards this goal for so long I will not let a MISTAKE run around all I have worked on and let my plans be ruined!" The purple precursor says.
David just freezes. "What did you just call me?" And his fur starts to change along with his eyes.
"I will not have some insolent pathetic MISTAKE run around my creation and undo all that I have done, so you will die here." And as he says that, the Kaiju that would've been sent through the Breach started to attack David. But none of them ever made it. They were all just stopped in mid air. A glow surrounded all of them, keeping them in place.
David, finally having all his fur change to pitch black, and eyes to blue, finally growls. The growl is distorted. The hatred, anger, the precursors finally feel fear. Although the one to feel the brunt of it all was the Purple Precursor, as he froze in fear. Then David starts to speak in a distorted voice. Like there were multiple people speaking at the same time, making it sound distant yet right in front of them. Quiet yet demanding.
"Then....I'll just destroy this place in its entirety. I'll leave nothing but ruble, nothing but a memory. I would've left you alive, but now...I JUST WANT TO KILL YOU." And David crushes all the Kaiju surrounding him like they were nothing. His body turning the place darker, into a nightmare realm. Far from what the Precursors were used to. Corrupting all that came into contact with him.
The Kaiju's that came into contact with the darkness saw nightmares, the fear ingrained into their souls before their bodies gave them up to find release. The speed of the corruption kept gaining. Growing faster as it kept consuming. And for the Precursor that had made the mistake of opening a door that should've stayed closed at all costs, had the being responsible in front of him. David having transformed from his true body into one that would've been his body when he became older. Though no amount of mercy or joy were on his face.
Madness, anger, rage. That was on his face, along with his eyes still being blue, staring at the Precursor. His hair blacker than the void, just taking in any light that was on it, like a black hole. What confused him before he lost his mind to the madness that was affecting him though was the silhouette of the very thing in front of him, closed eyed behind him, only this one the opposite coloration of the one awake....missing pieces of itself all over its body, and cracks everywhere.
"You should have just moved on." Says 'David' still with his voice distorted, and then the Precursors dies, with its mind lost and soul wanting release, finally gives up.
'David' within his madness, feels a seal open up, and his power grow. With this newfound strength, opens a portal to a new dimension. Leaving this one to be consumed by the madness he had infected it with. And leaves, and when on the other side, finally calms down enough to where his features change back into what they were before. White hair and gold eyes, and just sits down with his back against the wall. Looking around tiredly, see that he is in a cave of sorts. And seeing he is alone and no one around, closes his eyes and drifts to sleep, his head not allowing him to process what just happened, and his soul tired. And he enters a deep sleep. And when he passes out, doesn't notice the red eyes coming closer from deeper within the cave tunnel that he was in.
