“We are really sorry, Miss Amelia Bennett. But we can’t hire you as our veterinarian right at this moment. That’s why we weren’t able to arrange the interview.”

The blunt response from the young nurse brutally shattered the dim ray of hope in Amelia’s heart, leaving her too stunned to speak. She stared at the nurse with disbelief, standing as numb as a block of ice.
