Chapter 8: Joining the alchemy pavillion

After picking his cultivation technique, he went to where the outer disciples lived; there were plenty of different houses, so he just had to find one, mark it with his name, and live in it.

Regarding his cultivation technique, he had only copied it down so he could take it out of the scripture pavilion. He wanted to master it as quickly as possible so he could get ahead of not only the son of luck but everyone else in the sect.

'How much to master this cultivation technique?'

[Ninety-nine luck points]

He quickly got in a lotus position and nodded in agreement; suddenly, massive amounts of information were forced into his brain; two hours later, he finally mastered the cultivation art, meaning he could cultivate it to its peak without needing to comprehend it, he would still face bottlenecks while crossing realms and so on just not while cultivating regularly.

'How many luck points to create a supporting cultivation technique that automatically cultivates by itself?'

[Two thousand luck points]

Grimacing at the cost, he hesitated for a bit but still decided to buy it; he knew that he would have to do a lot of things to be able to compete with these sons of luck, so a lot of his time would be taken, he also knew that even if he spent twelve hours a day cultivating, they would most likely still surpass him either in cultivation or battle skills and so on, so he needed something that made him always cultivate.

Once again, vast amounts of information were rammed into his brain; now he could feel himself getting slowly stronger; he only had one more thing to buy: an upgrade to his devil's bloodline.

'If I upgrade my devil's bloodline will it make a scene or anything?'

[Yes, but just like when you first bought the first level of cultivation and made it seem like you ate a herb, you can also choose to cover up the scene that it would make]

Having gotten that out of the way, he decided to upgrade his bloodline; it only cost five hundred luck points and would undoubtedly make him much stronger, so he had no reason to hesitate.

All of a sudden, he felt his blood boiling as if he were burning from the inside, yet he felt chills entering his body, seeping deep into his bones; his bones started to transform slowly, his bones now had a dark lustre whilst his hair grew and slowly turned white because of the yin from his bloodline, his face grew more handsome, his looks now were enough to make him a model if he was back on Earth, his original eyes turned into light blue, and his gaze became piercing cold, his already lean body got leaner and more muscular, he also grew to be one-metre forty centimetres in height.

(Demons and devils are often described as beautiful to lure humans, so I decided to do that as well, his appearance won't affect much of the story)

After transforming his bloodline, he felt a massive amount of strength; better yet, he could feel that he was currently only in his human form and could change to his devil form any time he wanted.

His cultivation level quickly broke through into the fifth stage of body tempering; he knew it was because he was cultivating a yin technique, and his bloodline upgrade made the technique more compatible with him; a side effect of the bloodline upgrade was also a breakthrough.

He knew that he had used over half of his luck points and still hadn't done anything to the son of luck, but that didn't matter much to him.

Getting stronger was more important; if worse came to worst, he could move to a different kingdom and run away; he didn't believe there weren't other sons of luck in this world that he could kill and eventually get his revenge.

He also believed that if he couldn't deal with someone while knowing the future and having two thousand five hundred luck points, his alchemy skills, and his bloodline, he truly deserved to die.

However, he also knew he couldn't be overconfident or cocky when facing anyone, even if they weren't sons of luck.

He now felt that even if his cultivation didn't go up, he could kill ten of the previous him simultaneously, so he was glad that he had upgraded his bloodline.

Getting up from his lotus position, he could feel his joints creak; he now had to do one final thing for today before he would be satisfied.

*****

The sect has seven peaks, each representing a different faction, the one he wanted to go to was the alchemy peak.

The middle peak belongs to the sect leader alone.

Having taken over twenty minutes to climb up the stairs to the alchemy peak, he wanted to cry; even with his cultivation, he was still exhausted.

Looking around, he saw the words 'Alchemy pavilion' the moment he walked in, the smell of herbs assaulted his nose; not minding the smell, he walked up to the counter and asked the girl there how he could become an official alchemist.

The girl looked at seven-year-old him doubtfully but still told him that he needed to take a test to become an alchemist; the girl then pointed him in the direction of the test and said to him that he'd have to pay for the materials if he failed, but nothing else would happen.

Although he wasn't in the qi condensation realm, he could still use qi outside his body. In contrast, if he was in the qi condensation realm, he'd be able to use qi to make spells or infuse qi into weapons.

He decided to make himself seem like a genius.

Still, he didn't want to arouse too much suspicion from the sect or be seen as too much of a genius and potentially be targeted by the sect's enemies, so he decided to make an impure first-grade healing pill.

Pills also had a classification system, impure, low grade, middle grade, upper grade, pure and transcendent; they were classified on their effects and their purity, an impure pill had around fifty per cent impurities, whilst a transcendent pill had zero per cent impurities and a one hundred and fifty effectiveness hence the name transcendent.

Walking up to the test supervisor, he handed in the pill he had just made.

"Age, disciple status, name, and how long have you been practising alchemy?" the man was lying down lazily; he clearly didn't really care much about this test.

"Greetings, senior, my name is Gu Lingxin; I'm seven years old, an outer disciple, and I've only been practising it for around seven hours." Gu Lingxin said while looking extremely sad outwardly.

"Oh ok, here's your alchemy badge... Wait, what did you say?" said the man; now he looked remarkably awake compared to a second ago when he looked like he was dreaming.

Looking down sheepishly, Gu Lingxin said," I thought that alchemy was meant for me, so when I got into the sect, I only focused on reading about how to create a level one healing pill, hoping to pass the test. However, I didn't expect that after studying it for seven hours straight, I still wouldn't be able to make a low grade pill, it seems that being an alchemist isn't for me after all," deep down, trying to hold back his laughter. Still, outwardly he looked depressed as if he had lost the will to live; coupled with his baby face, it looked extremely compelling.

The man in front of him almost spat out blood while thinking, 'You clearly only took seven hours, yet you think you're not fated?'

"Show me your sect badge."

Gu Lingxin looked hesitant but still outstretched his badge and showed it to the man.

The man took it and carefully read it before handing it back with another badge in hand. "Here's your alchemy badge; I'll be right back; you should wait here for a moment, and you might get a great opportunity" having said that, he ran out of the room.
