Hearing that from the king could only make Emily wonder if her ears were having hearing problems or if she was just dreaming.
"Pardon?" Emily asked, tilting her ears towards the king just to be sure that she heard the right words.
"Everything that has come out of my mouth is nothing but the truth, Emily. I only heeded your advice. I just thought, why should I waste any more time when the perfect opportunity is right before me?" Young King Desmond replied to her.
Emily could not just believe her ears. She stared at the king with widened eyes trying to assimilate the entire situation and also trying to find a glint of pun in his words, but in his eyes depicted nothing but seriousness. The man standing before her was telling her the truth and still, he was the supposed lover of her best friend? What would Margaret say right now?
