Chapter 20: Easy win with a lousy synergy
"Watcho-"
BOOM!
The metal plate on the muscular man's arm and Skeleton 1s dagger collided making a loud sound.
The leader of the group was sent back a little, his team members just looking at the interaction with wide eyes.
"Give me cover!" The muscular man said.
The archer of the group went on with loading one of the arrows when he felt intense danger from upstairs making him duck.
PEW!
An arrow came and went past the place where his head was previously.
"...the hell?" the terrified archer saw a red-headed silhouette upstairs but lost sight of the creature after a second.
All these sounds of attacking made the footsteps of the remaining skeletons camouflage till the first Giant started moving downstairs.
The muscular man was in shock but cooled his mind, like a veteran. The giant skeleton had not jumped but was fast in sliding down the stairs.
"It's dangerous here! Start moving downstairs! NOW!"
The archer, mage, and healer nodded sheepishly and climbed down while the muscular man guarded.
'What the hell!' The muscular man couldn't believe it, while the skeleton fighting him was only level 3 but fighting it was very tough, it felt like the skeleton was an old monster having fought many gruesome fights previously.
He punched the skeleton's dagger with the metal gauntlet he was wearing making it stumble and finally fall on its butt on the stairs. The muscular man's eyes shone with happiness, he went for the skull while clasping his fists. The skeleton's face was emotionless till I felt he was going to die, the blue flames in its eyes flickered and it kicked the man on the leg, showing his will to survive horrifying the man for the first time.
'Fucking hell! This is not normal. This dumb creature does not want to die!?'
While he was in his trance, the normal skeleton was already a little up looking at it while being on its guard.
All the skeletons were already near him, he could see 2 Giant while the others normal. But something about them was off. Their stance, the battle intelligence. He could feel all of it but the pride made him want to ignore it.
SWUSH!
He ran downstairs taking advantage of no ranged attacker present.
"Get in formation, this is serious! Haley! set up a barrier quick." He roared at his members. All 4 of them formed a triangle-like formation with the healer in the middle.
The healer girl waved her long wand making the red stone on it glow bright. A transparent barrier got erected at the end of the stairs. Skeleton 1 ignored the transparent barrier and tried running past it but alas hit its head first then body and finally stopped. The other skeletons too did the same thing being dumb enough.
"I can't hold much, only 10 sec more probably." She said while gritting her teeth.

Meanwhile,
"Hmph, a barrier." Alicia snorted while looking at the healer girl while hiding.
She knew that the skeletons were enough to kill them all and decided to enter the fight when the humans were fully injured. This would eliminate the possibility of them leaving and telling everyone that a fucking human was with the skeletons and they didn't attack her.
The skeletons were punching the barrier constantly until it dimmed and vanished completely, before they could run to their enemies, a big fiery ball of fire hit Giant 2's arm making the blood on the top of it sizzle and one side of its bone became black.
Yet this did not make it less enthusiastic to fight more, Giant 1 and 2 went for the big muscular man while the 3 normal skeletons picked a target each. The archer panicked a little but took its knife out for melee combat...a big mistake.
He went running to the incoming skeleton and tried to stab its head but the skeleton being proficient with daggers ducked in time and jumped forward making the 2 daggers in its hand go inside his gut.
"AAARGGHH!" The painful shriek made everyone other than all the skeletons look, the shout took all the air out of the archer's lungs making it faint on the ground. The leader took a glance at the back, and froze for a second....their healer's neck was already cut open in a way that she didn't even have any time to shout. The same thing happened with the mage.
It was then that it hit the leader, it was always him that took care of the enemies, his group didn't have any experience fighting the monsters head-on because of him. Now, all of them were dead and he felt guilty, and the guilt was changing into anger quickly. His eyes rolled up leaving only the white of it to be seen. The gritting of the teeth made a weird sound. In short, the muscular guy totally went nuts.
"RAAARGHH!"
He punched the nearest Giant skeleton with all his might like a maniac. It was easy to back off or defend itself, but the giant got hit by him before it could even imagine.
BANG!
It hit the wall of the dungeon floor, the other skeletons just pounced at the man.
"Woo-hoo! This is a sight to behold!" a sound came from behind the berserk man. Alicia's face formed the happiest smile looking at the handsome man.
The man's face was all clean which looked very good but his clothes were drenched with both fresh and dried blood. It was as if the man had participated in a war before coming.
"Kyle!" Alicia shouted while moving down the stairs. She got down and went towards Kyle while running. The latter just chuckled and patted her head.
"Stand down, all of you!" Kyle shouted while caressing Alicia's head making her giggle non-stop.
All the skeletons in the group stopped and looked at their master indifferently.
Kyle went to the crouching man, he could see that he had gone all bonkers from his looks.
"You attacked my dungeon, that is a thing to be proud of, but you see, there cannot be two men in here." Kyle grinned like a devil and just sliced the head of the muscular man off. Alicia rolled her eyes listening to the cringy line at the end.
